AVON NAIL EXPERTS VITAMIN C CUTICLE GEL- REVIEW

15 g for INR 149

Avon Says: - Avon NAIL EXPERTS Vitamin C Cuticle Gel instantly repairs dry cuticles, moisturizes the skin around nails and infuses it with nourishing vitamin c. The refreshing cream with rich citrus scent will keep your hands nicely smelling, soft and smooth.

To Use: Apply a small amount to cuticles, massage gently. Wipe any excess product.

Ingredients: - Water/Eau, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isopropyl Myristate, Petrolatum Peg/Ppg-20/15 Dimethicone, Parfum/Fragrance, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Polyethylene Dimethiconol, PPG-5-Ceteth-20, SD Alcohol 40-B, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Yellow 5 Lake/CI 19140, Red 30/CI 73360, Orange 4/CI 15510

My Opinion: - Long back I bought this Nail Experts Vitamin C Cuticle Gel from Avon when it was launched. It was priced at Rs 79 (special introductory price) and I immediately grabbed one as I thought I have nothing to lose. I used it daily twice for 20 days without much expectations and I observed my cuticles much well behaved, the roughness and dryness was gone!!!! I immediately called upon the Avon lady and placed an order for more. Thankfully in the next catalog also this awesome product was priced Rs 79 so I asked her to get me 3 more. And there began my love affair with this cuticle gel. Oriflame also had a similar product with similar Nourishing Nail Serum which I loved too but it was discontinued. I have finished off a number of tubes of this cuticle gel and just now I realized that I have not shared this awesome product with you all. So here I am putting forward my views on this product I adore.

Now the packaging of this gel is very catchy, a bright orange see-through tube with a white screw-on cap. But it comes boxed in a black carton like most Avon product. Upon opening the white cap, you shall find a thin long nozzle to dispense the product right onto the cuticles. The gel is a transparent pale orange with bright orange beads that melt away upon slightly massaging. This gel is basically fragrance free as I have never been able to detect much scent in it. Only in the first few days of opening the tube, I get a faint orangey kind of scent but it is gone after a week of usage. The gel is watery and very light weight and does not make a mess of my hands. My cuticles are rough and dry but not damaged and therefore I began with using it twice a day, in the morning and at night but now I use it only in the day time after using my hand cream. My hands feel dry as I sit in an air conditioned office whole day and I keep a hand cream handy.

But after using this gel every day, my cuticles have softened and the roughness is gone. The nails as a whole appears to be more healthy and clean without any of those unsightly peeling off cuticles. I use an excess of nail paints & paint removers, that's the main reason for my dry cuticles both on finger nails & toe nails. But using this has improved the condition of dry and hard cuticles on my toe nails and dryness and hangnail on my finger nails. I just apply a small dot onto each cuticle and massage it on for a while and done. No greasy residue or oiliness is left behind, I do not feel the need to tissue off the remaining gel. Actually the gel gets absorbed into the the skin quite fast and being a non-oily light-weight formula it is mess free and hence it is mess-free and I prefer to use it during the day time. Out and out a great nail care product, there is a dearth of good nail care products as most big Indian brands don't have nail care stuff. Avon scores here with this cuticle gel.

Pros:

* Cheap

* Very effective on my cuticles

* Light-weight, oil-free gel formula

* Mess free as it gets absorbed into my skin very fast

*  Contains Shea Butter known for its moisturizing properties & Vitamin C known for to treat nail dryness (dry cuticles & hangnails)

* Can be used during the day while working, this gel will not stain yor precious dox or mess up your lappy

* Doesn't feel sticky

* Gives results in short time with regular use

* Makes nails healthy and lovely

Cons:

* Availability is an issue as Avon consultants are hard to come by

* Avon has the knack of discontinuing its best products!!! What if they chose to take this Cuticle Gel off the shelf just like Oriflame did???

I rate Avon Nail Experts Vitamin C Cuticle Gel 4.75 out of 5. My nails are not damaged but overuse of nail paints and removers definitely has its toll on them. My toe nails are comparatively much drier than my finger nails and this adorable Cuticle Gel helped combat the dry dry cuticles on my toes too. So I would say that it is one of the most effective treatment I have ever used. Highly recommended for all beauties who love their nails and wants to have pretty lovely nails. One of the best products from Avon I have ever tried!!!

Hope this review helped you in some way and do leave behind your sweet comments and also tell us about your experience with Nail Treatment Products. Thank you and have a wonderful Monday :)

HOLI- YOUR HAIR & SKIN NEEDS PROTECTION

Holi is the festival of color and joy. It is celebrated at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalguna. People throw colors at each other and enjoy this spring festival.

But mostly nowadays these colors are synthetic or harmful chemicals are added to them to add vibrancy. This may cause skin irritation, rashes, allergy etc. So I have come up with a few points to remember before exposing yourself to these colors.

Skin Protection:-

1. Use a sunscreen lotion with high Sun Protective Factor. Apply all over face, neck, arms and all other exposed parts.

2. Next apply a few drops of baby oil or almond oil over your entire face, neck, arms and other exposed parts.

3. On your lips use a lip balm with SPF and top it with a neutral color lippie.

4. Apply kajal on your eyes to enhance and shape them. But the kajal should be waterproof and smudge free.

5. Line your eyes with a waterproof eyeliner and use waterproof mascara as well.

6. Also protect your brows by coating them with a transparent/waterproof mascara after grooming them.

Hair Protection:-

7. Apply henna a day or 2 before Holi to protect hair from color.

8. Apply coconut/almond oil on hair just to coat hair so there is not much damage.

9. Tie up your hair and don't even think of keeping it open.

Nail Protection:-

10. Apply a neutral color on your tips and toes. If you have long nails then coat the underside of the nails with a transparent nail polish.

Afterwards, when you return home, use a moisturising shower gel to clean your skin, a good shampoo will clean your hair. Also use a nail polish remover to take off nail polish from your nails and also from the underside of your nails. Clean properly in between your fingers, toes and behind the ears. Be careful not to rub too much while cleaning.

WISH YOU ALL A VERY COLORFUL AND HAPPY HOLI

MY NAIL CARE REGIME

Sometimes back my dear blogger friend Tanveer had tagged me to share how I maintain long nails. Some others from fb also tag me every now and then to share my 'secret' nail regime. Honestly I do not do anything special for my nails.
Just like most of you I use a hand and nail cream on my hands and massage my nails for a min. I buff regularly and keep my nails clean, using a nail brush. I used to apply Revlon nail hardener but nowadays I am told that its no more available I have changed to Colorbar Nail Treatment. But yes on Sunday mornings I soak my nails in a small bowl of warmed olive/almond oil for 5 mins and then massage hands and nails for a couple of mins.
Also once in a while I soak my nails in a small bowl of warm salty water for 2-3 mins, my grandma told me this treatment helps in growing the nails. A weekly normal manicure is a must for me and I do carry my own manicure set to the saloon. Diet is also very important for good nails so I take my required dose of calcium from natural food source, I don't take extra calcium supplement.

The One Week Hand & Nail Care Programme For Brides

Here's a quick first aid treatment that should get your hands back in shape in about a week. Apart from getting a special manicure before your wedding, follow this routine also to show off lovely-gorgeous hands on your D-day.

Every night before going to bed, soak your hands in warm olive oil into which the contents of 1 capsule of vitamin E has been added. After 10 mins take out your hands, massage well, not forgetting your nails.

Take 2 tablets of calcium (consult your doctor first) with a glass of warm water or milk. Other than strengthening your nails, calcium is also a natural tranquilizer. It will help you sleep better.

Every morning massage some rich cream or oil into your hands and nails.

Buff your nails- this makes them shinier and healthier by stepping up circulation on the finger tips.

Whenever possible, throughout the day, keep massaging little blobs of Vaseline/Moisturex into your hands and nails, minimum is thrice a day.

Concentrate on health foods for nails: milk gives you calcium and vitamin D, raw cabbage gives you vitamins C n D and Sardines gives you iodine. Step up your water intake but avoid wetting your nails, wear gloves if doing household work.

Vegetable juices contains acid which ham your nails and stain them. Stay away from strong detergents as they damage hands and nails.

Use lemon juice for removing stains from fingers and nails. But if you have dry hands use potato juice instead of lemon juice as it is milder and not drying. However, lemon juice acts faster.

If your nails are prone to splitting, take gelatin dissolved in warm milk for a whole week. Or ask to your doctor to prescribe gelatin capsule, I heard these are now available.

To make the nail color last and to avoid chipping , always use a protective anti-chip top coat over your polish. For nails to remain healthy, it is essential to keep them polish free occasionally.
Ideally each time you remove your old polish, nails should be allowed to breathe.

**Throughout this entire week your nails should stay free from any kind of polish**

Milk For Beauty

Drinking milk has so many benefits for our body. Also it benefits the skin if used externally. Cleopatra used to bath in milk to make her skin glow. Here are a few beauty tips for you all.
Add a few drop of lemon to 1/4 cup of raw milk. Apply on your face and neck and leave overnight. This will clear off sunburn and make the skin fairer.
Regularly wipe your lips with milk, this will lighten its color and make it pink. Similarly wiping the skin around the eyes with raw milk and left overnight will lessen your dark circles and reduce puffiness.
Also a mixture of raw milk and tomato juice clears off sunburn and makes the skin glow.
If your back is darker than the rest of your body, a mixture of milk and flour can be used. leave on for 10 mins and gently scrub off. If done regularly the area will lighten considerably.
For a porcelain look use this scrub twice a week. Mix together milk cream, semolina and honey to make a thick paste, now apply on your face and neck. Leave on for 10 mins and scrub to remove. If done regularly, your spots will fade, your skin will be clear and glow with health.

TIPS ON NAIL POLISH APPLICATION- THE RIGHT METHOD

Hi Babes, today again I come up with nail tips. Applying nail polish is an art. Keeping it chip-free for a long time and protecting nails as well is a big chore. So lets get started on it-

1. Shaping is the first step. Round or square is your preference but square is in. Cut to desired length and give shape with a file. Don't use the file like a saw with to and fro motions, file in one direction only. Avoid metal files as it can leave micro cracks on the nail tips.

2. Priming- Just like you prep up your face, eyes and lips before makeup with primers so also you need to prep your nails before applying color on them. A base coat is the answer to it as it protects nails from getting stained with dark polishes and also helps color to glide on smoothly over nails. If you have ridges on your nails ans they look uneven on the surface apply a ridge filler over the base coat or alone. Nail polish will look even.

3. Shaking the nail polish bottle is a must before applying it. But don't shake it the conventional way up and down in the air. Instead place it between palms upright and roll it gently, the cover will remain clean this way.

4. Paint the nails one by one leaving the thumbs. Remember the first coat is not as important as the second or final coat of color.
Remove unwanted color from sides of nails and under it. Use a Q tip soaked in nail polish remover to clean up extra color but be extra cautious a little mistake can mar your entire nail.

5. T method for the thumbs. Apply color from side to side on tips and then apply a straight line on the middle. It should look like a 'T' when done.
Fill in the color carefully with two strokes on both sides of the thumbs. This is for the primary coat of color. Can be done on all nails.

6. Let nail polish dry well and be patient.

7. Top Coat is the finishing step. Apply top coat over dried nail polish to keep the color from fading and chipping. Top coat also gives protection against scratches. Use a quick drying formula for speeding up the drying process.

8. Apply the Top coat couple of times through the week for chip-free and fresh looking polished nails.

9. After all this hard work is done remember to wear gloves when washing and cleaning.

With this I wrap up for the day. And do comment on my tips. Will be back soon Babes :) Byeeee

NAIL CARE TIPS- DIY SERIES

Hi Babes, after the nail art lets get into caring for the nails. If your nails are not healthy no art will look good on them. So here are some simple tips for your nails.

1. When applying moisturizer/hand cream on the hands, apply some on your nails as well and massage with circular movements over the nails. Olive oil can be used instead of moisturizer/hand cream.

2. Push back cuticles with the corners of the towel or a cotton bud while drying them. Do this everyday after washing hands with soap/ hand wash.

3. While doing household work like washing and cleaning clothes/utensils etc, wear rubber gloves, specially designed for this purpose. This saves your nails from getting cracks and breaking.

4. For stains on your nails, clean off by soaking them in warm soapy water and gently use a nail brush.

5. For thin and brittle nails keep the length short because the longer they grow the weaker they become.

6. Keep an eye on your diet. Take carrots, yogurt, eggs and vitamin supplements regularly.

7. In half a glass of water add half a teaspoon of salt. Mix well and soak nails in it for sometimes everyday, helps in growth.

8. Pointed nails crack easily, so file them to square or round shape. Don't ever use a metal file
.

9. Use a cuticle remover to clean off and remove dead skin. Push back cuticles using a cuticle pusher, always sanitize tools before using them to avoid infections.

10. Before applying nail color always apply 2 coats of nail hardener. This will protect brittle nails.

11. When applying nail color start by painting the tips from side to side. Then apply one stroke on the middle and second and third coats on the sides. Let it dry and reapply another coat.

This is all I have for now. Try out the tips and please let me know how they worked for you. Till we meet again... Byeeee Babes.....
