My Opinion: - Deos are essential all throughout the year, more so in the summers. I use deos on a daily basis and as many times as required. Roll-On deos are great, at least they are long lasting or so thought I. Last year I bought Avon Little Black Dress Roll-On Anti-Perspirant Deodorant but back then I didn't use it much. This month while rearranging my stuff, I came across this Roll-On deo and started using it. The packaging is similar to all Roll-On Deos, a small but sturdy plastic can with a roller ball on top to dispense the product evenly. The cap is also black and is one of those screw-on lids. Very convenient and safe to carry in my bag while travelling.

The deo is a thick whitish liquid which becomes transparent on drying. It takes a few minutes to dry and I would prefer ia deo to dry faster. I do not have much knowledge about perfumes but I can best describe this deo as Floral Oriental with a touch of Woody notes. Top Notes are Cyclamen, Coriander, African Ginger, Jasmine and Apricot Blossom; Middle Notes are Gardenia, Ylang-Ylang and Pink Peony; Base Notes are Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Musk and Japanese Plum.

THE SWATCH

I find the fragrance very sweet and feminine and also it is very mild, very sophisticated. It lasts on my skin for a decent time but fades off towards the afternoon if I apply it in the morning before heading for office. Thereafter I have to reapply it around lunch. These Roll-On deos are usually used on the under-arm area and this deo did not irritate my skin. Now coming to the Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant part, Anti-Perspirant means stopping perspiration/sweating and Deodorant means stopping body odor or from stopping sweat to stink. This Roll-On Anti-Perspirant Deodorant from Avon has accomplished both tasks but on a moderate level.

THE WHITISH LIQUID BECOMES TRANSPARENT ON DRYING

Pros:

* Very sweet and feminine fragrance

* Decent staying power

* Didn't irritate my skin

* I love Roll-On deos

* Packaging makes it easy to carry around in a purse

* I used it on a daily basis for a month+, now its over

Cons:

* Available only through Avon Representatives

* Takes a few minutes to dry

* At Rs 179 I would get better RODs

I rate Avon Little Black Dress Roll-On Anti-Perspirant Deodorant 3.5 out of 5. It is a decent deo and the Floral Oriental scent is very pleasant and mild. Certainly this product is not a must have and you can definitely give it a pass.

Hope you enjoyed the review, do leave behind your precious comments and share with us your experiences of Roll-On Deos. Thank you and have a Happy Weekend :)

PREPARE FOR THE SUMMERS- PART-2

  •   Hot days are here; keep your energy high through some careful planning. Keep outdoor activities for the evening. Take a little rest during the day especially after lunch; I can understand that it is not possible for us to take a nap. You will feel fresh, rejuvenated and recharged so try it out yourself.
  •   Get yourself a light citrusy perfume/deo whichever you like. Let your hair dry naturally whenever possible. If you have to use a dryer than hold it away from the hair and keep moving it, do not concentrate on one particular area/strand.

  •       Take out all your creamy lippies, I feel this type of lipstick is great for this time. Use light shades or MLBB shades for the day and move on to brighter ones for the nights.

  •    A diet of fresh fruits and vegetables is highly recommended. The darker, outer leaves of salad and greens are 20 times higher in Vitamin A than the paler inner ones. Avoid all fried and spicy food and retort to fresh homemade food.

  •    During this time use gram flour (besan ) for a smooth and glowing complexion. Take about a cup of besan and add to it some rose water, strain the paste through a fine cloth. Then apply this paste thinly on the face, neck, arms, legs etc. not forgetting your nape. Then wash off with cool water after 20 mins.

  •    Another way to pamper your skin is to use tomato juice, regular use will make your skin flawlessly pretty. Simply press small tomato bits through a muslin cloth and collect the juice in a cup. Apply on your face arms and legs and allow it to dry before splashing with cold water.

  •    Henna is the oldest natural way to treat your hair. Apart from conditioning, it can give the hair beautiful shades and lustre.

  •      Wear cottons instead of synthetics clothes. Choose pastels and cool shades, florals are in right now.

Next we shall talk about makeup and colors that are in this summer. Thanks for reading this post and have a great weekend ahead :)

PREPARE FOR THE SUMMERS- PART 1

The longer warmer days are back again. Prepare yourself for summer. Reorganize your wardrobe, shop for pale pastel colors in clothes and makeup. Get some fresh light fragrance for summer. Sun is the skin’s greatest enemy. Exposure to its UV rays cause the most damage. The sun dries the skin and causes it to age and wrinkle. Make it habit to avoid sun rays when not wearing a sunscreen.

Include fresh fruits like Papaya, Grapes in your breakfast menu. Take lemon juice along with a tspn of honey first thing in the morning. Keep an evening free once in a week for pampering your skin. After your usual cleansing routine, apply a deep pore cleansing mask. Lie down for 10-15 mins and then wash it off with cold water. The carrot pack is very beneficial for the hot days. Grate 1 fresh carrot finely and mix with 2 tspn milk. You may also add the yolk of an egg for more thickness. Spread it evenly all over your face and remove when slightly dry.

Summer heralds the days for swimsuits, sleeveless dresses, halter necks, shorts etc. Wax your legs and arms, slough off dead/rough skin from knees, elbows and heels. Keep away laziness, remember laziness is the arch enemy of beautiful girl. Many don’t even bother to remove their makeup before retiring at night and then wonder why their once blooming complexion looks dull and dry. Hence always remove makeup before hitting bed.

Try substituting baby power for regular face powder as it has a transparent sheen that is flattering in the summers, I have tried this myself and I love it.

For April, try fuller’s earth which is wonderful for toning up the skin. If yours is an oily skin, a mixture of fuller’s earth and witch hazel. For the girls with normal skin, use rose water instead of witch hazel and for girls with dry skin use milk/milk cream. Try making your own pack at home as these give superb results.

If you have scars and blemishes, add a little orange juice to half a cup of fresh milk, mix and rub all over the face, neck, arms and legs. This also removes tan and brightens the skin. With regular application this treatment will banish all marks and spot (not old ones) and you will glow all through summer.

PIMPLES- CARE N CURE

Hello girls, summer is here and this is pimple time for me :( So I start taking precautions way before the hot days are here. My skin is oily and tends to get oilier by the day during summers :( But then I have been coping wit this problem since I was 14-15 years old. Here I have for you all (I mean the girls with pimples) a few tips and recipes which has been of great help to me.

We all know that the 1st step to caring for and curing pimples is to keep the skin clean and oil-free at all times. Use a gel cleanser or cleanser specially suited for oily skin.

Go makeup-free whenever you have pimples. I avoid foundation and blusher when I have pimples because these 2 products seems to worsen the problem. Mineral foundation is ok if I must apply foundation but blusher is a big no no for me. So keep an eye on all the products you use and how they react to your skin.

Chop a handful of margosa/neem leaves and boil in 1 1/2 lts of water and simmer for 5 mins. Now bottle the remain water after sieving it. Wash face with it as many times as day as possible. Or use it with a cotton pad all over pimples. It works as a healer because of its antiseptic properties.

Make a paste of- mint leaves, margosa leaves, fenugreek leaves and basil leaves. Add a little multani mitti for binding and use this pack on your pimply face. Works wonders for my skin.

Take special care of those pimples which oozes out blood or puss. Don't tease them, leave them alone or you risk yourself an infection and a bigger breakout. Take marigold petals, chop fine and boil in a little water. Simmer till the water is reduced to half its original quantity. Clean pimply parts with this solution. It is real so beneficial, I would call it magic.

A very important healing pack- carrot juice, tomato juice, multani mitti/fuller's earth, sandalwood powder, khus powder, kapurkachri, neem powder, orange peel powder- all in equal amount. Mix well apply daily on your face till pimples are gone completely.

Some other important tips for curing and caring for pimples- drink lots of water, take your regular dose of fresh fruits/veggies (GLVs are important), don't let your hair fall on your face, control dandruff, avoid spicy food, keep your hands away from your face, cut off your nails, use a clean face towel daily, avoid sweets and fried food as well. Ok ok I stop here........ :D

SUMMER MAKEUP TIPS

Start by cleansing and toning. Using a toner or astringent is very important, as this will close the pores and minimize oil secretion. During the summers this step is a must.

If you have to use makeup, use a oil-free tinted moisturiser with SPF. For the ones with sensitive skin use Lacto Calamine all over face and neck.

Also the ones with uneven skin tone, use as little foundation as possible. Use a damp sponge to blend it in. Also better use a liquid foundation.

Translucent powder is very important in the summer. Apply with a big fluffy brush.

Match eyeshadow colors with your skin tone. Apply eyeshadow on your lids only to compliment your look. Also use a highlighter on your brow-bones. Sand, champagne, soft pink, beige, pale peach and nude colors work best for summer.

Apply a thin line of liner, preferably brown, on the upper lashline only. Line below lashes with a brownish eyeshadow. Use waterproof liner and eye products.

Transparent or brown mascara on your lashes to make them look longer and thicker. Use waterproof mascara.

Blushers should be nearly nude. Soft pink or natural brown are best but powder blushers work best.

Outline lips with a nude lip liner and fill in with it. Light subtle shades look flattering in the summers. Now fill in with a lippie using a brush. Blot with a tissue paper and reapply another coat of lippie. Nude shades looks best during summers. A dash of gloss on the center of the lips to plump them up.

HOW TO STAY COOL DURING SUMMERS

Start the day with morning walk so that you come in contact with the fresh cool morning air.

Summer bathing is a great way to keep cool. Just before bathing massage legs, hands, chest, neck, shoulders and the back with light strokes using a moisturising body lotion. Better use a water based lotion for this purpose.

Now bathe in tepid water, stand in the shower and relax for awhile. Use a light floral shower gel or body wash, avoid glycerine based soaps/washes in the summer. Now wash yourself in cool water and then finish off with tepid water. Pat your body dry.

Now use a good quality antiperspirant on underarms. Dab a dash of cologne on your nape, hands, legs, knee, chest and back or simply use a good deo.

Now sprinkle light floral talc on feet to avoid smelly feet. Also sprinkle talc on shoulders, neck, chest and back.

Repeat the use of cologne or deo during the course of the day as and when you like.

Touch up your makeup once in the day to keep yourself looking fresh. Use minimum makeup and if you have to use then always use powder makeup products.

During the hot days avoid starchy food like rice, potato and fried food. Also avoid sweets, chocolates and pastries.

Drink lots of water and eat plenty of water based fruits and vegetables like cucumber and watermelon.

Keep green plants around yourself so that you feel cool and fresh all the time.
