 Ingredients: - Not listed

My Opinion: - I bought this duo long back when they relaunched it. I was never attracted to the other 2 but I always wanted the Starlight duo, and I was waiting for it to be on offer, then I saw this in a new avatar and big discount and grabbed it asap. The very first time I swatched it, I fell in love with it immediately. What a gorgeous blue and silver I had found. Coming to the packaging, it’s pretty looking but very flimsy and cheap, it’s a bright pink plastic pan with a see through plastic lid which makes it easy to find out. It comes with a sponge tip applicator which is not too bad and can be used for the inner corners. It’s a cute & small duo and can be thrown into the purse for later use/touch ups.

The texture is extremely creamy and smooth, the consistency is light weight. It is not powdery or chalky like many other brands. It is fragrance free or atleast my nose is not able to pick up any scent. The Starlight duo consists of 2 shadows, one in aqua blue with gold & holographic micro shimmers which are very finely milled. It’s one of the prettiest blue I have ever come across. The blue leans towards the teal family and can’t be called a proper blue. The other shadow is true silver with finely milled silver shimmer. The two colors complement each other very well.

Once applied these shadows look like a cream shadow and both are highly pigmented. The lasting power is amazing; it lasts all day/night and comes off only when I take it off. A face wash/cleanser is not of much help and I need to use a specialized eye makeup remover to clean off completely. Both these shadows blend like a dream, with each other as well as with other shadows. It’s easy to spread on the lids. It becomes loose powder after swirling the brush in it and that part goes into each other so I have to throw it off the pan and that’s a lot of wastage. The price of this is Rs 249 which is extremely affordable taking into consideration the quality and rarity of the shades.

THE APPLICATOR- GOOD FOR INNER CORNERS

Pros: -

* Blends like a dream

* Lasting power is amazing

* Doesn’t smudge or fades off until removed

* Mostly Avon products are on sale, so you never have to buy it for Rs 249

* Very pretty blue shadow

* Highly pigmented and looks like cream after application

SWATCHED IN NATURAL LIGHTING

Cons: -

* Packaging is flimsy and cheap, overall looks pretty though

WITH FLASH

I rate this Avon Simply Pretty Blendable Eyeshadow Duo in Starlight, 4.5 out of 5. It’s a hit with me from my fave brand Avon. I highly recommend this duo to all girls who love to wear blue shadow.

HERE I HAVE USED THIS DUO PLUS OTHER SHADOWS

Swatches of Blushed Wines

My Opinion:- These are my first eye shadows outside Oriflame. I started with Oriflame's Vision Duo eye shadow as a 16 year old and used it for many a years. When I first saw these, i liked them very much and I ended up buying 05 Blushed Wines. I love this shades in this quad so much that I started using it on a daily basis and now I am on my second quad of 05 Blushed Wines.

Swatches of Berry Bloom

My lids are on the oilier side and I need to use a primer/base to keep eye shadows in place. But these eye shadows stay on for 5-6 hours without primer and creases a little thereafter. But with primer these stay on my lids for a much longer period without creasing. But I have noticed that without a base the colors tend to change a bit after a few hours since my lids are oily. I love these shadows because they stay put till I remove them, they don't fade.

The eye shadows spread well and blends into each other or other shadows very easily. I am annoyed with 'fall outs' and these quads are no exception. But then we see 'fall out' in nearly all eye shadows. So this problem is negligible.

The applicators are basically useless and after a single wash they were gone :P Hope Revlon hears this and improve the quality of the applicators. Right now I have 2 quads namely- 05 Blushed Wines and 10 Berry Bloom. Blushed Wines is a brownish quad and Berry Blossoms is a pink-smoky quad. I can create a number of looks with these shades.

You need good eye shadow brushes to create your looks as the applicators doesn't help much. I have sensitive eyes and I never had problems with these shadows as they are non-irritating and Ophthalmologist tested. All the claims made by the company are true and I love these quads.

Pros:- Easy to carry, stays fresh, lid is see-through hence easy to find, comes in quads

Cons:- Applicators are good for nothing, pricey

I rate this product 4 out of 5. I have been using these for many years now and I still have 2 nearly full quads. Must buy for all eye shadow lovers.

REVLON ILLUMINANCE CREME SHADOW- SWATCHES & REVIEW

REVLON ILLUMINANCE CREME SHADOW- SWATCHES & REVIEW

3.4 gms for INR 500

Company Says:- Luminous finish for bright eyes * Weightless color glides on smoothly and easily with fingertips * Fragrance free, Irritant free * Suitable for contact lens wearers

Key Ingredients:- Octyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Talc

Available in 12 shades:-

1. Khaki Suede

6. Va Va Va Bloom

9. Not Just Nudes
10. Wild Orchids
11. Electric Pop
12. Black Magic

My Opinion:- I love eye shadows and I keep on trying different looks all the time. Some months back when I went to get lippies from Revlon. I love the colors in this quad, they are so pretty and pigmentation is good. After considering 2-3 options I bought the quad called Moonlit Jewels.

All the four colors are very pretty, the lightest color is a pinkish-goldish-beige shade, second 1 is a mid tone golden brown shade, third color is a vivid blackish/greyish green and the last color is a pretty cobalt blue. All these shades come with very fine shimmer. These creme shadows are extremely blend-able and work great with each other as well as with eye shadows. A lot of looks can be created with these 4 colors. When I use a primer on my lids, the shadows stay on for long like 7-8 or till I remove them with an eye makeup remover, face washes don't clean off all the shimmer from my eyes though.

The colors are very wearable and the first 2 shades are good for day wear. The colors are build-able but they tend to crease and smudge with out a primer, that must be because I have oily lids. The best part is that they don't fade off like most creme shadows do. I sometimes use them as bases for my eye makeup, they provide the much needed hold for powder shadows.

Pros:-

These shadow don't streak or slip off the lids,

Travel friendly

Cons:-

Cheap-looking packaging,

No applicator provided,

Crease and smudge without primer

I rate this creme eyeshadow 4 out of 5. I love the colors and I am happy with this quad which consist of light to dark shades- complete transition from day to night look with a single quad. I am planning to get another one soon :)

MAKEUP TIPS

A few common makeup tips which are often forgotten or ignored but makes a big difference if kept in mind.

* When lining your lips, fill up the whole lips with the lip pencil. It will work as a good base. If you just outline and don't fill in the color then after a couple of hours only the outline will stay.

* To make lipstick stay up for longer durations, apply the lipstick and then blot it with a tissue or dust a little loose powder over lips. Reapply your lipstick.

* When wearing dark eyes or smoky eyes apply pale nude shades of lipstick. Similarly wear deep lipstick with pale nude eyes.

* Eyebrows should be well groomed, never neglect or ignore them. If they are sparse fill in with a brow powder and give shape with a brush.

* Using an eyelash curler opens up the eyes. It makes the lashes look longer and eyes look bigger.

* Dust loose powder on your eyelashes before applying mascara to make them look thicker.

* For everyday makeup use neutral colors for the eyes. Pale shades like vanilla, sand and almond and mid shades like taupe, terracotta and peach look very flattering and soft.

* Best and most traditional way to apply blusher, even for novices, is to smile and place the blusher on the apple of the cheeks. Apply with a circular motion and then blend upward and outward. For a cream blusher use fingertips if you are not used to working with a brush.

* Always use a little foundation on your eyelids if you are not using wearing an eyeshadow. It will even out the skin and give your eyes a clean and fresh look. Set with a little loose powder using a big fluffy brush.
