COLORBAR KEEP BLUSHING BLUSH BRUSH- REVIEW

1 Unit for INR 475

Colorbar Says: - Calling all fashionistas to add some fun to every beauty job that needs to be done. Colorbar Accessories - on serious beauty-duty all day, so you can stay fabulous at work and play. Get, set, gorgeous!

Blush Brush: Look no further if you've been searching for that happy blush you get when your heart's been racing! This perky pink brush applies just the right bit of color to take every skin tone from drab to fab in a flash.

How To Use: Stroke the brush over color, smile and brush across the apples of your cheeks working outwards. Lightly dust over the high points of your face for that cheeky glow! Gently clean the brush by washing with mild shampoo and cold water, rinse and leave to air-dry.

My Opinion: - Now comes the review of the Keep Blushing Blush Brush which too has the same white chubby handle, shiny black ferrule and bright pink bristles. This one is very similar to the First Impressions Powder Brush, just the bristles are shorter and rounded. The shape of the brush is curved and the bristles are a little over an inch. This brush too comes in a reusable black shiny zip-lock pack which doubles as a brush guard. And then same story continues......

Here again the pretty bright bristles are scratchy at the very beginning. But upon washing this brush again and again many many times it has soften to some extent but then not to the point of softness. Though this brush is easy to wash and dries fast, say overnight, it looks frayed after it dries. I have to use a brush guard from another brush to keep it in shape and only that can get the bristles to a manageable position. But after that it is back to normal and works well. Ohh yes the bristles as in all the other brushes is synthetic. This brush sheds a few bristles only on the first wash and after that it never shed till date. But like the powder brush it also bleeds and makes the water pink.

LOOKS SIMILAR TO POWDER BRUSH WHEN IT WAS NEW

Now coming to the functionality to this blush brush, this brush is dense as well as fluffy but to the right extent. It picks up the right amount of blush and deposits on my skin. The blending is also of average level, nothing very special but it blends the blush quite well into my skin. If you swirl this brush over a pan of blush you will see a lot of loose product thereafter in the pan as the rough bristles will dig into the soft blush. Also due to this factor you need to use this blush brush with a very light hand or you might get overdone cheeks.

SEE HOW THE BRISTLES FRAYED AFTER WASHING

The brush handle is chubby and therefore it is quite easy to handle, actually the entire make up of the brush is very attractive. It seems Colorbar has not given much thought into the making of these brushes as much as they have paid attention to their packaging. The Vega Brushes, Oriflame Brushes come with a lesser price tag and are much better than these Colorbar Brushes. And then The Body Shop Brushes are so much better but a little more pricey than these ones. These brushes are good for newbies actually, they are good to practice with and to learn techniques with. But for us, bloggers or girls who apply blusher on a daily basis and have been using  Sigma, TBS,Coastal Scents, Vega, Oriflame and now recently the Real Techniques Brushes, it is difficult to say much good things about these Colorbar Brushes.

Pros:

* Affordable & Easily Available

* Attractive Packaging

* Sturdy handle helps in good grip

* Densely packed bristles are fluffy, which helps in picking up right amount of product

* The Brush shape is curved and rounded, this makes the blending convenient

* Shedding during first wash only

Cons:

* Bristles are frayed & loose their shape after washing

* Bleeds upon washing

* Bristles are rough and in a way scratchy, can never be called soft

* Rs 475 for this quality is not pricey?

                     I rate Colorbar Keep Blushing Blush Brush 3.5 out of 5. You get better brushes in the same price range or even for less in the market which are way soft and better. I love Colorbar as a brand, I have always liked it products or had the concept that they make some of the best products at an affordable price tag but regarding these brushes I wouldn't be able to say good things. I am so disappointed :(

Hope this review helped you in some way and do leave behind your sweet comments and also tell us about your favorite Blush Brush. Thank you and have a great Thursday :)

LAKME PURE ROUGE BLUSHER-HONEY BUNCH- SWATCHES & REVIEW

6 gms for INR 450 (maybe)

Company Says: - A pure pressed powder blusher provides sheer and light weight application. Color builds lightly layer after layer without heavy coverage. Enhances cheekbones with a luminous silky matte finish.

Ingredients: - Diisostearyl Malate, Tocopheryl Acetate and Approved Colors

Available in 4 shades: -

Honey Bunch: Brown with subtle pink/mauve undertones and bare visible shimmer, I use it as a bronzer

Ginger Surpise: Brown with pink undertones and slight shimmer

Rose Crush: Pink with Brown undertones and finely milled shimmer, not OTT

Peach Affair: A mixture of peach and bronze with red undertones, perfect to wear with Indian dresses as it is quite shimmery

My Opinion: - This blusher came out with the Bridal Sutra Collection 2009, I fell in love immediately after swatching it at a store. And today I can proudly announce that this is my first repurchase for a blusher. I use it more as a bronzer than as a blusher. I love it and can’t do without it. The blusher comes in a slide box which is maroonish/brownish color like most Lakme products. The packaging is made of sturdy plastic and the lid is transparent, which makes it easy to find the preferred shade amongst my huge stash of blushers. This blusher comes with a small brush, the bristles are soft but it is flat. Can be used in an emergency.

                               This blusher is more of a bronzer and I use it as a bronzer actually. The shade is flat brown in the pan, with finely milled shimmer but when applied it looks brownish with pink/mauve undertones and the shimmers are no more obvious. Very close observation shows up a tiny amount of shimmer. This blusher is warm toned, will look good on fair to wheatish/medium as well as dusky skin tones but might not suit very fair skin tones. I use this one on the hollows and not on the apples of my cheeks. And the best thing is that this blusher does not cakes up or oxidizes.

                                 It lasts for around 6-7 or more hours with proper base in a air conditioned environment. But out in the sun or in a normal environment, it lasts around 5 + hours anf evenly fade off but does not leave my cheeks stark naked. It actually lightens with time. This blusher is super blend-able and gives the aforesaid silky matte look to my skin. I use an angled brush for this blusher and the result is natural and lovely. One big point is that the blusher is non-scented and it hasn’t broken me out till day, I use it nearly everyday. This is one blusher that you can use with nude lips and smokey eyes. It gives sheer color when applied in less quantity and can be layered to build up the color. The pigmentation is moderate and that’s why its so easy to use, you can never go overboard with this blusher.

SEE HOW POWDERY IT BECOMES

Pros: -

Gives silky matte finish as claimed by the company

Easy to blend

Buildable, can be layered

Decent pigmentation though not very dark

6 gms for Rs 450 is good/affordable

Never broke me out till date, doesn’t irritate my skin

Does not become cakey after few hour

Does not oxidize, the best part :D

Easy to carry around in purse

Cons: -

The packaging lacks the luxury of an in-built mirror

Only 4 shades available and that too in the same family

NATURAL LIGHT

                 I rate this Lakme Pure Rouge Blusher in Honey Bunch 4.5 out of 5. I love it and use it on a daily basis. Sometimes I use it as eye shadow for natural look. This shade goes well with nude lips and smokey as well as natural eye makeup. So girls if you like Lakme and if you wanna a natural looking bronzer than please go ahead and check it out. This is the least purchased/famous blusher of the 4 shades available, as claimed by the Sas at the Lakme counters. And this is because it looks like a flat brown shade in the pan.

AVON SIMPLY PRETTY CHEEK COLOR- NATURALLY NUDE- SWATCHES & REVIEW

3 gms for INR 189

Company Says:- Light-as-air powder that gives your cheeks a gentle bloom of color. (catalogue)
Are you reallly blushing? Keep them guessing with this light-as-air powder that gives your cheeks a flush of natural, pretty glow.
Made especially for Asian Women.

To Use:- Sweep on the apple of your cheek

Available in 3 naturally flattering shades-
* Blooming Peach
* Rosey Cheek
* Naturally Nude

My Opinion:-
I have reviewed only 1 blush till date on my blog which is a shame on myself since I am a very blusher person. I can't do without this makeup product, I wear blusher most of the time and I have an assortment of blusher from varied brands. Today I will be putting forward my views on my fave brand Avon's Simply Pretty Cheek Color in Naturally Nude.

The packaging is very basic, the pan is made of plastic with a clear see-through lid, looks very cheap and comes with a small brush which is of no use. A fall can break it into pieces, I feel so but mine hasn't fallen as yet. Contains very little product and I think I will hit pan soon.
My nose couldn't pick up any fragrance, good for the girls with sensitive skin/nose. It is very well pigmented and is a pretty rosy brown. I love the color so much that I am wearing it on a daily basis.

The color looks very natural on me and the best part is its matte. But 1 big problem is the staying power of this blusher when applied on bare skin or non-foundationed skin. I have to use primer, foundation and compact only then will it last long, say about 5 hours or more in an air conditioned environment and 3 hours plus under normal conditions. Without proper base this blush will fade in 2 hours flat under any condition.

It does not become cakey towards the end and fades evenly whenever it does. Naturally nude is a versatile color and will go with most Indian skin tones. Its quite cheap and I now regret not buying the other two shades as well. This shade can be used on eyelids for that naturally shaded look. Already have ordered 2 more shades and right now awaiting them. The packaging have changed and the quantity have been reduced :(

Pros:-
* Very well pigmented
* Matte and powdery which I love
* Stays on for long after proper priming & preping
* Cheap & always on offer
* Didn't break me out and irritate my skin

Cons:-
* Contains only 3 gms and I hear its been reduced to 2 gms with the new packaging
* Available only through Avon Representatives
* Ingredients list not available and shelf life not mentioned

I rate this blusher 4 out of 5. This product is a must have as it is so cheap and a really nice blush. Great for newbies I must say. But I am liking this blusher so much (I have a soft corner for blushes ;)) that I regret not buying the other two shades.

MAYBELLINE DREAM MOUSSE BLUSH- SOFT PLUM- SWATCHES, PICS & REVIEW

5.75 gms for INR 190

Company Says:-
• Air-whipped mousse blush feels satin-soft on skin, glides on smoothly, and blends easily for seamless color and a natural finish
• Long-wearing formula provides luminous, long-lasting color on cheeks without clogging pores

For Best Results:- With your fingertips, pat a small amount of blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Use feathery strokes to blend gently from your cheekbones to your temples. To build color intensity, apply more blush.

Ingredients:-

My Opinion:-
                 This is the first blush that I am going to review on my blog as it holds a special place in my heart. We need a blush to warm up our look and define our cheekbones and to add a healthy glow to our faces. This blush has stayed with me for nearly 2 years and still its in great shape. The first thing I love about this blush is its packaging. It comes in a cute little glass jar and that's the sole reason why I purchased it. The glass jar is sturdy enough not to break when hitting the floor. The lid is the same color as the blush inside.

                When I opened the lid, I was put off by the odour of ink. Later when I applied the blusher to my skin, the odour was gone immediately. And also the smell is not unbearable, why do I need to take a whiff of everything I don't understand :P Another thing which created a problem is taking out a little blush from the tub without dipping my nails in it (I have long nails on both hands) but I fixed the problem soon. Either I use the back of a brush, a brush or a toothpick to take out the required quantity of blush from the tub.

                The blush is truly said to be air whipped and is extremely light. It doesn't feel heavy like a cream blush and blends into the skin like a dream. A little goes a long way since I need just a small quantity of blush to get the required amount of color. It is very well pigmented and is extremely buildable. This thing feels like silk when rubbed between fingers. Feels satiny to the touch after applying on my skin. This blush doesn't emphasize the dry spots (my skin turns combination during winters).

                Though the shimmer in it looks kind of cheap, it didn't break me it or caused any other skin problem. This Dream Mousse stays on my skin for about 3-3 1/2 hours in winters but in the summers it last only for 2- 2 1/2 max. Its just fades off and I have to touch up my makeup from time to time. The glitter in this blush is not very chunky and I personally don't mind wearing it during the day also. My friend suggested using this blush in a very unique way. Add a tiny amount of this Dream Mousse blush to your body lotion, apply to your arms and legs and shiny away. This will give a sexy sheen perfect for nights out or special occasions.

Pros:-
¤ Blends like a dream
¤ Buildable
¤ Affordable
¤ Cute packaging
¤ Very light weight

Cons:-
¤ Smells like ink :P
¤ Looks like the mousse is made of cheap quality (just a feeling)
¤ Comes in a jar so its difficult to take it out without dipping my nail, also I need to sanitize my hands/fingers before using this blush.
¤ All shades are not available in all places
¤ Lasting power is not good on my oily skin

                I rate this product 4 out of 5 inspite of the 5 cons. I love the color and texture of this blush and love the way it looks on my skin.

MAKEUP TIPS

                   A few common makeup tips which are often forgotten or ignored but makes a big difference if kept in mind.

* When lining your lips, fill up the whole lips with the lip pencil. It will work as a good base. If you just outline and don't fill in the color then after a couple of hours only the outline will stay.

* To make lipstick stay up for longer durations, apply the lipstick and then blot it with a tissue or dust a little loose powder over lips. Reapply your lipstick.

* When wearing dark eyes or smoky eyes apply pale nude shades of lipstick. Similarly wear deep lipstick with pale nude eyes.

* Eyebrows should be well groomed, never neglect or ignore them. If they are sparse fill in with a brow powder and give shape with a brush.

* Using an eyelash curler opens up the eyes. It makes the lashes look longer and eyes look bigger.

* Dust loose powder on your eyelashes before applying mascara to make them look thicker.

* For everyday makeup use neutral colors for the eyes. Pale shades like vanilla, sand and almond and mid shades like taupe, terracotta and peach look very flattering and soft.

* Best and most traditional way to apply blusher, even for novices, is to smile and place the blusher on the apple of the cheeks. Apply with a circular motion and then blend upward and outward. For a cream blusher use fingertips if you are not used to working with a brush.

* Always use a little foundation on your eyelids if you are not using wearing an eyeshadow. It will even out the skin and give your eyes a clean and fresh look. Set with a little loose powder using a big fluffy brush.
