AVON SIMPLY PRETTY EYE DEFINING PENCIL- SWATCHES & REVIEW

AVON SIMPLY PRETTY EYE DEFINING PENCIL IN GREEN- SWATCHES & REVIEW

1.3 gms for INR 119

Company Says:- Provides rich color and is smudge-proof

Key Ingredients:- Camphor n Castor oil for a cooling n soothing effect.

Available in 4 shades:-
Black
Green
Brown
Metallic Blue
Eye Defining Pencil (Green)

My Opinion:- Eye pencils gives a pop to the eyes and enhance them dramatically. Eye pencils can pull up a look in no time. I love these colorful pencils and keep on trying out different brands all the time. This time I laid my hand on this Avon Simply Pretty Eye Defining Pencil. I chose the shade green, am in love with greens :D It is an intense green shade and I think it would look great on most Indian skin tone.

This pencil is not creamy but I don't need to tug and pull my eyelids to line them. I use it to line my eyes and also my waterline. Sometimes I use it on my entire lid as eyeshadow. I haven't experienced any irritation (I have sensitive eyes) so I would say its a good quality pencil, safe as well. Though nowhere it is mentioned that its ophthalmologist test but still I never had any problem when using this pencil on my waterline.

The staying power is not good enough, it stayed on my waterline for less than an hour and on my lids for about 2 hours without primer. But with primer it stays on for longer, about 3.5-4 hrs which is pretty good considering the small price it comes in. But then this pencil is not smudge-proof as the company claims. It smudges to an extent but not too much. This pencil makes no claims to be waterproof but it doesn't go off with water alone. I need a face wash or cleanser to take it off completely.

Pros:- Contains camphor and castor oil, intense color, cheap

Cons:- Smudges and needs a primer to last long.

I rate this product 3.75 out of 5. I don't think I will get another pencil from this range.

Directions for use:- Apply generously oil over the body after bath and at night.Use Daily.
Suitable for all skin types.

Suitable For All Skin Types

My Opinion:- Last winter I came across creams and lotion from Everyuth. I bought a cream and this nourishing body lotion as these were very cheap and came with natural ingredients like wheatgerm oil and cocoa butter. My arms and legs are on the drier side and in winters they dry out even more. So I started using this lotion and the dryness was neither reduced nor control, well can say this lotion controlled the dryness temporarily. It gave oily coating to my skin which goes away within an hour or so. But a very good thing about this lotion is that inspite of being greasy it didn't stain my clothes and nor did it gave that sticky feeling. It is mildly scented and the scent is not a bad one, its pleasant enough for me.

Pros:- Travel friendly, very cheap, non sticky

Cons:- All claims made by the company are false.

I rate this product 2 out of 5. This nourishing body lotion didn't work for me and also it didn't harm my skin. Noway am I going to buy it again.

My Opinion:- About a month ago I came across this hand gel and immediately placed an order for it. This is a good substitute for soap in energency situation. I love vanilla ice cream and this hand gel reminds me of ice cream yummmm :P This gel comes in a cute white tube and has an awesome fragrance. It can be carried in the purse easily because its small enough. Its watery and hence very runny therefore gets easily absorbed into the skin. It is a non-sticky gel formula and doesn't make my hands/palms greasy though a mild fragrance lingers on and on for quite sometime.

The best part is that this hand gel is anti-bacterial. I am using it for 1 month now and I am nearly done with this tube. I haven't experienced any dryness or itching (it contains alcohol) of my palms/hands regular use rather I should say frequent use. I use it whenever I feel like, it gives my hands a clean and fresh feeling. All claims made by the company are true and I am very happy with this product.

Pros:- Travel friendly, awesome fragrance, affordable, anti bacterial, doesn't dry my hands

Cons:- Contains alcohol, lot of products come out when I open the lid of this tube.

I rate this product 4.75 out of 5. I am planning to get the Frangipani fragrance next. This is 1 product that I am in love with right now.

AVON FACE PEARLS- SWATCHES N REVIEW

AVON FACE PEARLS- SWATCHES N REVIEW

22 gms for INR 749

Company Says:- Avon Illuminating Face Pearls are highlighters for the skin. They are like small balls of blush or bronzing powder powder in 3 different shades, ranging from light to dark. Gives cheeks and brows a subtle radiant glow! Can be used all over face or alone or as finishing face product.

To Use:- Use these with a big brush. Just run a brush over these pearls and dust the powder on your cheeks or entire face and smudge well using the desire.

Where to apply:- Avon Face Pearls can be used as highlighters for the skin. They add extra color on the cheeks or can be used all over the face to give the glow you desire.

Ingredients:- Talc, Paraffin Liquid, Sorbitol, Aqua, Hydroxylated Lanolin, Phenoxyyethanol, Butylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate
Left Swatch Unblended & Right Swatch Blended

My Opinion:- These face pearls comes in a little black tub with a sponge on top of it. I think there are hardly 50-60 pearls in the tub though I didn't take the time to count them :P These face pearls are very much pigmented and are super blendable. Perfect for highlighting the browbones or cheekbones but can be used as a blusher or eyeshadow if you want a nude shimmery look. The color is buildable and a single swipe over my face gives it a healthy glow. It is also perfect for highlighting my T-zone at times when I have to fake a 'glow from within'. Can be used on the body also, I mean legs, arms and bare back :D I didn't break out while using it and didnt cause any dry patches on my skin, I mean its very much blendable and doesn't leave ugly whitish patches on my face. I love to use it with my kabuki but you can use any brush you are comfortable with, a fluffy powder/blusher brush will do.

Cons:- Contains Paraben, comes in a single choice- should come out like Oriflame in 2 different shades, cannot be used as bronzer as said by the company.

I rate this product 4.75 out of 5. I will get it again when I am done with this tub but these pearls will stay with me for a long long time.

ORIFLAME GIORDANI GOLD INFINITE MASCARA- PICS & REVIEW

Pic taken from Oriflame website
ORIFLAME GIORDANI GOLD INFINITE MASCARA- PICS & REVIEW

8 ML for INR 500 (approx)- I don't remember

Company Says:- Customise your lashes with buildable volume, definition and length. Hi-tech feathering brush extends and separates lashes from root to tip. Enriched with Vitamin B5. Does not flake, smudge or clump. 8ml.

Ingredient List:- AQUA, PARAFFIN, STEARIC ACID, CARNAUBA, ACACIA SENEGAL, TRIETHANOLAMINE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, VP/ VA COPOLYMER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, VP/EICOSENE COPOLYMER, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, PEG-40 STEARATE, CERA ALBA, DIMETHICONE, NYLON-12, DIMETHICONE PEG-8 BEESWAX, DISODIUM EDTA, IMIDAZOLIDINYL UREA, METHYLPARABEN, HYDROGENATED MYRISTYL OLIVE ESTERS, PANTHENOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, PROPYLPARABEN, BHT, CI 77499

My Opinion:- My first ever mascara was a Lakme Mascara which my mom gave me but it was thick, too clumpy :P Then I tried Revlon and later on came to using Oriflame mascaras. Amongst all the Oriflame mascaras I have used, this Giordani mascara holds a special place in my heart- no clumping problem ever :) Though mascaras should be discarded after 3 months of use, this 1 stays fresh for a much longer time. My eyelashes are quite ok though not long, this mascara gives my lashes a thicker and longer look. The wand/brush is not thick and maybe that's why it needs more than 1 coat and doesn't need a lash comb. It doesn't clump at all and I don't need to use extra lash comb to separate my lashes.
The lashes don't stick to each other giving my eyes the much wanted wide eyed look. Once applied to my lashes it dries off fast and I don't need to close my eyes and wait for the mascara to dry. Though a single coat is not enough when dressing up my eyes, 2-3 coats are required and this is really tiresome :/ It is 100% waterproof and you can safely wear it in the monsoons also. Only a makeup remover can clean it off and that too I need to use the remover more than once. The packaging is good, a thick golden tube.

Pros:- Waterproof, smudge proof, jet black

Cons:- Pricey :D

I rate this product 4.5 out of 5 and this is my third tube...hope that says it all :)

LAKME DUO SHARPENER- PICS & REVIEW

LAKME DUO SHARPENER- PICS & REVIEW

1 Unit for INR 100

Company Says:-

My Opinion:- Sharpeners are an important beauty tool. Can anyone of us imagine lining our eyes or lips with a blunt tipped pencil?? Impossible!!! This is where we need a good quality sharpener. Also there is an array of pencils available today- crayons, regular wooden one, slim pencils and some fat ones. So we need sharpeners for regular slim pencils as well as for the fat pencils. Here let me tell you all one thing- I tried many a times to use a regular sharpener to sharpen my cosmetic pencils but always failed :(

But Lakme duo sharpener is just the right one with 2 sharpeners attached together. This sharpener works for all kinds of pencils and gives a pointed tip for precise definition. The blades are German made and are very sharp indeed. Not much product is wasted since the tips of pencils are safe with this sharpener. I have also come across a pencil which refuses to get sharpen by this sharpener, it is the regular Lakme Kajal Pencil :P :D Very funny but its true.

Shadow Artist Shimmer Sticks, the fat pencils from the latest Lakme Fantasy Collection has given problem to a couple of girls when sharpening but I could easily sharpen mine ones with this sharpener. Actually I believe a good quality sharpener is a beauty necessity rather than a tool or equipment.

I rate this product 4.75 out of 5. I don't think I will need to buy another piece in the near future. But when I do feel the need to buy a new sharpener I will try Faces or Oriflame or Avon because I would prefer experimenting with sharpeners.

SUMMER MAKEUP TIPS

Start by cleansing and toning. Using a toner or astringent is very important, as this will close the pores and minimize oil secretion. During the summers this step is a must.

If you have to use makeup, use a oil-free tinted moisturiser with SPF. For the ones with sensitive skin use Lacto Calamine all over face and neck.

Also the ones with uneven skin tone, use as little foundation as possible. Use a damp sponge to blend it in. Also better use a liquid foundation.

Translucent powder is very important in the summer. Apply with a big fluffy brush.

Match eyeshadow colors with your skin tone. Apply eyeshadow on your lids only to compliment your look. Also use a highlighter on your brow-bones. Sand, champagne, soft pink, beige, pale peach and nude colors work best for summer.

Apply a thin line of liner, preferably brown, on the upper lashline only. Line below lashes with a brownish eyeshadow. Use waterproof liner and eye products.

Transparent or brown mascara on your lashes to make them look longer and thicker. Use waterproof mascara.

Blushers should be nearly nude. Soft pink or natural brown are best but powder blushers work best.

Outline lips with a nude lip liner and fill in with it. Light subtle shades look flattering in the summers. Now fill in with a lippie using a brush. Blot with a tissue paper and reapply another coat of lippie. Nude shades looks best during summers. A dash of gloss on the center of the lips to plump them up.

HOW TO STAY COOL DURING SUMMERS

Start the day with morning walk so that you come in contact with the fresh cool morning air.

Summer bathing is a great way to keep cool. Just before bathing massage legs, hands, chest, neck, shoulders and the back with light strokes using a moisturising body lotion. Better use a water based lotion for this purpose.

Now bathe in tepid water, stand in the shower and relax for awhile. Use a light floral shower gel or body wash, avoid glycerine based soaps/washes in the summer. Now wash yourself in cool water and then finish off with tepid water. Pat your body dry.

Now use a good quality antiperspirant on underarms. Dab a dash of cologne on your nape, hands, legs, knee, chest and back or simply use a good deo.

Now sprinkle light floral talc on feet to avoid smelly feet. Also sprinkle talc on shoulders, neck, chest and back.

Repeat the use of cologne or deo during the course of the day as and when you like.

Touch up your makeup once in the day to keep yourself looking fresh. Use minimum makeup and if you have to use then always use powder makeup products.

During the hot days avoid starchy food like rice, potato and fried food. Also avoid sweets, chocolates and pastries.

Drink lots of water and eat plenty of water based fruits and vegetables like cucumber and watermelon.

Keep green plants around yourself so that you feel cool and fresh all the time.

EYEBROWS- TIPS AND TRICKS

Measure your brows by holding a makeup brush upright alongside your nose. Where the handle hits the hair is where your brow should ideally start.

Measure the outside of the eyebrows by lining up the handle with the bottom of your nose and the outer corner of your eye at a 2 o'clock angle.

Tweeze stray hairs from underneath the brow, never from above it because it ruins the shape- so says the experts.

If you have scanty brows, fill in your brows with a matt brown eyeshadow or brow powder, with upward strokes for gentle definition.

To emphasize the arch of your brows, use a sharpened eyebrow pencil. Use light gentle strokes and blend in with your fingertip.

To check if your brows are the right shape, look in the mirror and focus on your brows. They should begin just above the inner corner of the eye.

The high point of the arch should be between the outer edge of the iris and the outer corner of the eye.

Swatches of Blushed Wines

My Opinion:- These are my first eye shadows outside Oriflame. I started with Oriflame's Vision Duo eye shadow as a 16 year old and used it for many a years. When I first saw these, i liked them very much and I ended up buying 05 Blushed Wines. I love this shades in this quad so much that I started using it on a daily basis and now I am on my second quad of 05 Blushed Wines.

Swatches of Berry Bloom

My lids are on the oilier side and I need to use a primer/base to keep eye shadows in place. But these eye shadows stay on for 5-6 hours without primer and creases a little thereafter. But with primer these stay on my lids for a much longer period without creasing. But I have noticed that without a base the colors tend to change a bit after a few hours since my lids are oily. I love these shadows because they stay put till I remove them, they don't fade.

The eye shadows spread well and blends into each other or other shadows very easily. I am annoyed with 'fall outs' and these quads are no exception. But then we see 'fall out' in nearly all eye shadows. So this problem is negligible.

The applicators are basically useless and after a single wash they were gone :P Hope Revlon hears this and improve the quality of the applicators. Right now I have 2 quads namely- 05 Blushed Wines and 10 Berry Bloom. Blushed Wines is a brownish quad and Berry Blossoms is a pink-smoky quad. I can create a number of looks with these shades.

You need good eye shadow brushes to create your looks as the applicators doesn't help much. I have sensitive eyes and I never had problems with these shadows as they are non-irritating and Ophthalmologist tested. All the claims made by the company are true and I love these quads.

Pros:- Easy to carry, stays fresh, lid is see-through hence easy to find, comes in quads

Cons:- Applicators are good for nothing, pricey

I rate this product 4 out of 5. I have been using these for many years now and I still have 2 nearly full quads. Must buy for all eye shadow lovers.

REVLON ILLUMINANCE CREME SHADOW- SWATCHES & REVIEW

REVLON ILLUMINANCE CREME SHADOW- SWATCHES & REVIEW

3.4 gms for INR 500

Key Ingredients:- Octyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Talc

Available in 12 shades:-

1. Khaki Suede

3. Copper Canyon

5. Skinlights
6. Va Va Va Bloom
7. Precious Metals
8. Moonlit Jewels
9. Not Just Nudes
10. Wild Orchids
11. Electric Pop
12. Black Magic

My Opinion:- I love eye shadows and I keep on trying different looks all the time. Some months back when I went to get lippies from Revlon. I love the colors in this quad, they are so pretty and pigmentation is good. After considering 2-3 options I bought the quad called Moonlit Jewels.

All the four colors are very pretty, the lightest color is a pinkish-goldish-beige shade, second 1 is a mid tone golden brown shade, third color is a vivid blackish/greyish green and the last color is a pretty cobalt blue. All these shades come with very fine shimmer. These creme shadows are extremely blend-able and work great with each other as well as with eye shadows. A lot of looks can be created with these 4 colors. When I use a primer on my lids, the shadows stay on for long like 7-8 or till I remove them with an eye makeup remover, face washes don't clean off all the shimmer from my eyes though.

The colors are very wearable and the first 2 shades are good for day wear. The colors are build-able but they tend to crease and smudge with out a primer, that must be because I have oily lids. The best part is that they don't fade off like most creme shadows do. I sometimes use them as bases for my eye makeup, they provide the much needed hold for powder shadows.

Pros:-

These shadow don't streak or slip off the lids,

Travel friendly

Cons:-

Cheap-looking packaging,

No applicator provided,

Crease and smudge without primer

I rate this creme eyeshadow 4 out of 5. I love the colors and I am happy with this quad which consist of light to dark shades- complete transition from day to night look with a single quad. I am planning to get another one soon :)

GARNIER FRUCTIS FORTIFYING SHAMPOO 2 IN 1- SWATCHES & REVIEW

200 ml for around INR 100 I suppose (forgot :P)

Company Says:- Love to oil your hair, but don't have the time? Granier Fructis Shampoo + Oil 2 in 1

Wash after wash, the nutritive fruit oils penetrate each layer of the hair fibre and nourish it from the inside.

Olive Oil- Deeply nourishes the heart of hair
Avocado Oil- Nourishes the middle of the hair fibre & makes it supple
Shea Oil- Nourishes & softens the surface

My Opinion:- I bought this shampoo when I first came across it about 2 or more years back, actually I don't remember when =D I love the fruity scent of this shampoo and also its bright green color. I have oily scalp and dry roots and this shampoo worked very well for my hair type. It lathers a lot and that's a big turn on for me.. Though I dilute it with a little water before I use it on my wet scalp. This way shampoo goes a long way and is less harsh on my hair since most shampoos are detergent based and this 1 is no exception.

Cleans my hair and scalp and I didn't get dandruff or itchiness or dryness on my scalp after using this shampoo- some shampoos give me dry flakes and makes my scalp itchy so I am always very careful in choosing my shampoos. I didn't experience any hairfall while using it and my hair was always in perfect shape. Also it didn't make my scalp oily even in the peak of summer. It perfectly suited me and I used up 6 bottles before moving on to another shampoo. While using this shampoo it was not necessary to use a detangler/serum on my hair but I always use those products :D

Pros:- Sweet fruity fragrance, oiling not necessary since it contains oil, affordable

Cons:- Surfactant based

I rate this product 4.5 out of 5 . It gave me healthy hair- soft and shiny.

EOTD- PINK N PURPLE

Hi girls, sorry for not blogging for so many days, was a little busy. Today I have come up with my first EOTD. I have chosen pink and purple as the main colors, as pink is the color of spring.

I started by applying Revlon Illuminence cream shadow in moonlit jewels, the 1st shade from the left.

Now I applied a shimmery pink on the sockets only, this color is from an unnamed random palette

Thereafter I used purple on the crease and out corner and winged out a little. I used the last color from Revlon 12 hour eyeshadow which is matt dark purple.

Again I used shimmery white shadow on inner corner and around the tear duct and also on the middle of the lid.

Also I highlighted my browbones with the same shimmery white but here I used just a dash of it.

I lined my eyes with Lakme High Definition Eyeliner and used Lakme Satin Black Kajal on my waterline.

To finish off the look I applied 2 coats of Oriflame Giordani Gold Mascara and I am done.

This is my first EOTD and if its not up to the mark then please please bear with me. I am looking forward to your comments on this look :D
