LAKME nine to five DUAL-ACTION MAKEUP REMOVER- REVIEW

ENTER BEAUTYDIVA INDIA'S 2nd BLOG ANNIVERSARY HERE

120 ml for INR 295

Removes all kinds of lip, eye and face makeup

Company Says: - This twin-phase makeup remover has a unique formulation that gently but thoroughly removes all kinds of makeup including long wearing makeup.
             Shake well.

Saturate cotton pad and gently sweep over closed eyelids, lips and face area.

               Rinse with cool water

Important: Cap tightly after use to prevent evaporation

Ingredients: - Aqua, Clycomethicone, Isohexadecane, D-Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Hydrogen Phosphate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, DMDM Hydantoin (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

My Opinion: - We all know the need of a makeup remover. My first one was from Oriflame and then I used Avon followed by Lakme. But in winters it’s only the Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover that I use and it’s effective as well.  Today I am going to put forward my views on the Lakme nine to five Dual-Action Makeup Remover which I have been using on a daily basis for nearly 3 months and now it’s about to get over. I am not satisfied with the packaging as it does not come sealed properly. This makeup remover comes in a transparent pink plastic bottle till a spray dispenser. The lid is also similar pink see through plastic and its shuts tight enough to be travel friendly/spill-proof.

Coming to the fragrance, it a mild floral scent. Nothing special or overwhelming. This twin phased makeup remover is watery on the lower half of the bottle and oily on the upper half of the bottle. It needs to be shaken up well before use and then it becomes a milky whitish viscous liquid. I spray it onto a cotton pad and swipe it over my eyes and all the eye make can be seen diluted. It removes waterproof mascara, eyeliner and kajal with elan. Then again I take one more cotton pad and spray some remover and wipe off my lips, not even a slight tint of lipstick is left behind. For the face I don’t regularly use foundations so I just skip using the remover on my entire face. But when I do use a foundation (tinted/longwear/waterproof), I use this remover to clean up the makeup and it works absolutely well.

The company instructs us to wash off with cool water after using this remover but my face remains quite oily when I wash off with plain water. So here I feel the need to use a good face wash to remove any traces of oil left on my face. It’s not mentioned that its oil free and therefore a little oil staying back on my skin is not a problem. This remover is very gentle on my skin and hence I use it on a daily basis. One big advantage of this makeup remover is that only one product works for lips, eyes and entire face so another product to remove facial makeup is not required. Regular use of this product did not break me out and its very mild and gentle for my skin.

Pros: -

* Easily available

* Affordable Rs 295, since 120 ml lasts me nearly 3 months of regular use

*Gentle on my skin, I am using it on a daily basis

* Very mild makeup remover, didn’t break me out

*Very effective in removing all types of foundations, blushers, waterproof mascara/eyeliner, lipstick/gloss etc.

* Does not sting if it goes into my eyes

THE TEST

Cons: -

* Needs washing off with a face wash to remove that slippery/oily feeling on my skin

* The bottle does not comes sealed, shame shame

AFTER ONE SWIPE WITH COTTON PAD

AFTER TWO SWIPES

THE COTTON PAD SPRAYED WITH MAKEUP REMOVER

THE SOILED COTTON PAD AFTER TWO SWIPES

I rate this Lakme nine to five Dual-Action Makeup Remover 4.5 out of 5. This remover does it job properly and I don’t have any complaints against it. A decent product for daily use which is gentle on my skin. But one problem is that it isn’t oil-free and needs washing off with a face wash. Recommended to all makeup users, it’s a must try if you use eye makeup on a regular basis.

Natural herbal formulations tend to change color over time. However, the product efficiency remains unchanged.

My Opinion: - I get pimples every now and then.  So I always keep a couple of face washes that claim to prevent/minimize the appearance of pimples. Therefore, today I am reviewing the highly acclaimed Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash which claims to prevent pimples and purify skin in all skin types. Right away coming to the packaging of this product, it very basic, very simple like most face washes. A transparent plastic tube with a flip open lid. The lid shuts tight and the packaging is very hygienic and travel friendly. It can be safely carried around in a purse.

The face wash is bright green in color, and is like a liquidy gel. It’s not exactly watery but it’s definitely runny. The fragrance is sweet herbal-y with a touch of fresh Neem leaves. According to me, the fragrance is refreshing and rejuvenating.  I take out a small blob on the palm of my hand, add a little water, lather it and apply it all over my face and neck. Then I wash it off and really feel fresh thereafter. I use this face wash atleast thrice a day and no it has not dried out my skin. But yes it controls oil for about 2 hours and then my nose becomes shiny (My skin is very oily in the summers). I generally use a toner and a moisturiser and top it off with a loose powder.

This face wash soothes my skin while breakouts, and truly prevents pimples and therefore I am very happy with it. It does not lather much (its soap free) and I am personally happy that this face wash does not contain SLS (foaming/lathering agent). It contains Neem which is extremely beneficial for pimples of most kinds. Also is contains turmeric which too is great for the skin. My skin feels clean, soft and clears up within a week. What more can I ask for from a face wash of Rs 50.

Pros: -

* It’s very affordable and easily available, it can be found in many different sizes

* Contains Neem & Turmeric which are good for skin

* Does not dry out my skin- I wash my face thrice a day

* Very gentle on pimples, soothes my skin

* Refreshingly sweet herbal fragrance

* Soap-free, hence very mild on sensitive skin

* Available in a number of different sizes

* All claims are true

Cons: -

* Does not foam/lather much, though for me it’s not a con but for others it might be

* It claims to purify skin in all skin types but dry skin girls stay away or use only once a day

I rate this Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash 4.75 out of 5. I recommend this face wash to girls with oily skin who are frequented with pimples like me.  Girls with combination skin can use it once a day but girls with dry skin stay out. I have been using this face wash for many years now and I must say I love it and always have it in stock.

Hope you enjoyed my review, do leave behind your precious comments and share with us experiences with anti-pimple Face Washes. Thank you and have a nice time

CLEANSING MASKS

The simplest way to cleanse your skin is by saturating a cotton ball with unboiled milk and gently rubbing away dirt, grime and other surface residue. Use 'upward' movements to dislodge impurities.

Yogurt and Egg Mask:- Beat the white of an egg and add 4-5 tbspn of yogurt. Mix well and apply on face, neck and nape. Wipe clean using a muslin cloth dipped in hot water, followed by the muslin saturated in cold water.

For Oily Skin:- Add 1 tspnof lemon juice to the above paste
For Dry Skin:- Add 1 tspn of honey to the above paste
For Combination Skin:- Make 2 portions of the paste, one with lemon juice for the T zone and the other with honey for the rest of the face.

Turmeric Cleansing Mask:-
Mix together 1 1/2 tspn of turmeric powder/paste and 1 1/2 tbspn of lemon juice. Make a smooth paste and apply over face and neck. Wash off after 10-15 mins with tepid water.

Oats Cleansing Mask:-
Mix together 1 tbspn of oats and 1 tbspn of cucumber juice and make into a smooth paste. Apply all over face and neck and let dry for 15 mins. Rinse off with cool water.

POND'S DAILY FACE WASH- REVIEW

POND'S DAILY FACE WASH- REVIEW
Active Cleansing System

50 gms for INR 35

Company Says:- The first step to facial care for soft, smooth skin. For clean and soft skin that glows. Suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin types.

How it works:-
* Thoroughly cleanses without leaving slippery feeling on skin
* Cleans skin. 100% soap free** formula with rich lathe penetrates and removes deep rooted dirt, leaving your skin cleaner and smoother
* Gentle on skin. Active Cleansing System cleans gently and cares for your skin better than soap

Results:- Clean, soft, glowing skin

Usage:- Splash face with water and apply face-wash on face and neck. Rinse off. Pat dry. If face-wash gets into your eyes, rinse well with water.

** Soap free washing preparation with organic surface active agents.

Ingredients:- Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide MEA, Perfume, Sodium, Carboxymethyl Cellolose, Titanium Dioxide, Methyl Paraben, Dimethiconol n TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, DMDM Hydantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propyl Paraben, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, BHT, Tetrasodium EDTA, Glycol Distearate

My Opinion:- The fragrance is so refreshing and mild like all other Pond's Face Washes. Because of this shivering cold my skin has turned from oily to combination type. This face-wash sounded good- 100% soap free, contain Glycerin and Vitamin E. It foams slightly and doesn't give a very rich lather. I wet my face and take a tiny blob of the face wash on my palm, add a few drops of water, foam it and apply it to my face and neck. It cleans off all makeup and also kajal (except Lakme Satin Kajal) very gently and leaves behind that mild scent identifies to Pond's. And on top of it I haven't broken out and also my T-zone doesn't become oilier or greasier.
It consistency is that of a milky white gel and a little goes a long way. It gives my skin the claimed softness and smoothness and also the said glow- an added bonus. It removes eye/lip makeup without much effort and it has not been harsh on my skin. But I think this product will not work for my oily skin in the summers but for this winters its doing great. The packaging is pretty in white and leaf green, also the price is too good.

Pros:- 100% soap free, gentle on my skin, cheap, effective, does what it claims

Cons:- Contains Paraben

I rate this product 4.5 out of 5. I am loving it right now and planning to use it all through the winters. Recommended for girls with dry skin.

CETAPHIL Cleansing Lotion- REVIEW

Directions:- Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees C; do not freeze. Keep the container tightly closed after use.

Special Precaution:- Avoid Contact With Eyes
Its an odorless milky liquid

My Opinion:- I have been using it since I was attacked with acne for the first time in my life, in short since my teenage. This is the only product I have been using continuously ever since I first started cleansing therefore I have a soft corner for this one. I love this cleanser and I have a bottle in the bathroom and another in my purse.
Since I tend to break out every now and then, this cleanser is perfect for me as it controls my oiliness. I just massage it into my skin a little and clean off with a damp cotton because I am of the opinion that its a little messy if you just tissue off and simply washing off does not appeal to me, actually I feel a little sticky :P
This cleanser is mild and I have been using it on my pimply face without any problem. Though I use another cleanser and face wash when my skin is normal (read without pimples). This product is perfect for pimple-prone and sensitive skin.

I rate this cleanser 5 out of 5 and I will keep on using it whenever I breakout. Kind of Holy Grail cleanser for me during my breakouts.

Pond's WHITE BEAUTY Daily Spot-less Lightening Facial Foam- REVIEW

Pond's WHITE BEAUTY
Daily Spot-less Lightening Facial Foam- REVIEW
50 gms for INR 60

Company Says:- Cleanses deeply for glowing and brighter skin. This gentle foam deeply cleanses and brightens skin, transforming your complexion to a radiant look you have always wanted. The foams unique formula reduces dullness and brightens skin, while washing away old and weary, sallow skin cells. Skin feels soft, smooth and sparkling clean.

How to enjoy visible lightening results:- Wet your face. Apply to face and neck and gently massage. Rinse off.

Ingredients:- Myristic Acid, Gylcerin, Water, Propylene Glycol, Potassium Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid n Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Glycol Distearate, Decyl Glucoside, Glyceryl Stearate, Polyquaternium-7, Niacinamide, DMDM Hydantoin n Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Perfume, Disodium Edta.

My Opinion:- I like foaming face washes and this one foams well. The mild and feminine fragrance is a plus point and very refreshing as well. I personally foam it on my palm and then apply on to my wet face and neck. A very little (read tiny blob) is enough to remove all dirt, grime and makeup from my face. It doesn't remove kajal from my eyes and also my eyes stings like hell supposedly it goes into them- why cant these cosmetic companies make face washes that don't irritate your eyes :(
All traces of makeup is gone in a single wash, this product washes off the oil from the skin surface. It is very gentle and my skin feels fresh and the dullness is gone after a wash. Of-course I cannot say anything about the radiant and sparkling skin claims of the company. It can be drying for the dry skinners but is good for the oily skinners like me. The oil returns after 1- 1 1/2 hours and that is not bad considering the price of this face wash.

Pros:- Its cheap, can be carried around in your purse easily, mildly perfumed, good for oily skin, a tiny bit is enough so will go on for a couple of months, the packaging is pretty.

Cons:- Company says nothing about which skin type this face wash would suit.

I rate this product 4 out of 5 and I would surely recommend it to everyone with oily skin. I am happy with my Oriflame Aloe Face Wash so I wouldn't need this one.

**I got this Face Wash in a combo pack with Pond's WHITE BEAUTY Daily Spotless Lightening Cream with Pro-vitamin B3, for an amount of INR 185**

SELECT YOUR SOAP WISELY

The soap market is very pragmatic now-a-days, there are a lots of varieties of toilet soaps in the market. Soaps are detergents made of alkali combined with tallow and vegetable oil. Synthetic soaps are made with oils, fatty acids and other compounds.

The abundant use of soaps makes the skin dry which results in several skin problems like premature aging. People with skin problem can aggravate their condition by using soap very frequently.

Medicated Soaps:- These are especially suited for acne ridden skin and helps in its reduction by controlling oiliness and bacteria build up. There are several varities of medicated soaps available in the market, choose according to your skin type and kind of problem.

Baby Soaps:- These are generally made for the tender skin of babies. They can also be used by adults with dry or sensitive skin.

Transparent Soaps:- Alkali content is low in tranparent soaps. They are suitable for most skin types. They melt faster and are more expensive compared to the other soaps.

Deodorant Soaps:- Deodorant soaps have special chemical substances that kill the bacteria. They are not suitable as facial cleansers. Bacteria thrives in with sweating, by using this soap body odour can be controlled since it kills bacteria.

Sulphur Soaps:- Sulphur slows down the secretion of skin oils which are valuable. It is effective in removing acne. But regular use of this soap can dry up the skin causing skin problems.

Oil Based Soaps:- These are recommended for people with dry skin. The difference between a good quality soap and an ordinary soap depends on the quality of the vegetable oils and tallow that forms the base and also the other ingredients like rose, cold cream, lemon fragrance and coloring comes into account.

Selecting the right soap is a very difficult task. Sensitive skin owners must stay away from perfumed soaps, as perfumes as said to be the commonest irritants.

To keep skin clean, every trace of makeup and dirt must be removed before going to bed. Soap is not good enough for cleansing the facial skin. Use a lotion/cream cleanser followed by a mild face wash.

Oily skin can be washed more than twice a day. Dry skin should be cleaned with a mild face wash only once a day. Apply moisturiser after washing the face with water.
