LAKME ROSE POWDER With Sunscreen- 01 SOFT PINK- SWATCHES & REVIEW

40 gms for INR 85

Company Says: - It is a foundation makeup in a powder format- gives a flawless radiant look.
Contains rose fragrance to keep you fresh, contains sunscreen to protect from harmful UV rays. Gives a flawless radiant look.

Ingredients: - Talc, Zinc Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Titanium Dioxide, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Perfume, Rosa Damascena Extract
May Contain: - CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 12085, CI 77891, Phenoxy Ethanol, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben

Available in 2 shades:
01 Soft Pink (For Fair Skin)
02 Warm Pink (For Wheatish to Dusky Skin)

My Opinion: - I have been using this loose powder for nearly 2 years now and I would continue using this for as long as it is available. I was not into loose powders and always used Revlon Touch & Glow Moisturising Compact, which I still love very much. But after seeing this in the counters and hearing about it from a blogger friend, I planned on purchasing it. The rose powder is aptly named as the fragrance of this loose powder is just like fresh roses. The packaging is maroonish-brownish, typical Lakme, sturdy plastic tub and the base is white transparent. On opening the screw on lid, a transparent sifter can be seen with only 5 holes. It is extremely difficult to dispense the powder through those 5 holes and I have to open the sifter to dip my brush in the tub and I am always worried about contamination.

A puff/applicator comes along with the loose powder, but it’s of no use as it picks up too much product. Using a brush is the best option with this powder. This powder is light weight and gives sheer to light coverage. So I don’t think the shade color makes much of a difference, though mine is soft rose as I am on the fairer side. This shade is a light pink but gives the look of a translucent powder on application. This rose powder sets foundation very well and gives a matte-smooth look to the face. I opt for this one when I want a shine free and matte look but whenever I need a dewy glow on my face, I opt for Avon Ideal Shade Loose Powder or my other compact powders.

Using too much product will give a dry look to your face and it will eventually end up become cakey. So I use a little amount of powder, dip the brush into the powder, tap it and dust over my face. It’s a fine and light weight powder and it’s extremely difficult to control it if the fan is on. It makes a big mess by flying everywhere. But one good thing about this loose powder is that it does not dry out my skin even in the harsh winters. It never broke me out till date nor did it irritate my skin in any way. At Rs 85 for 40 gms is dirt cheap, and takes nearly a year get finished off.  It controls the shine on my oily skin for about 4-5 hours in an air-conditioned environment, but in summers it’s lasting power is 3 ½- 4 hours at the most. What more can I expect from this cheap but good loose powder.

  •    Light Wheat
  •   Medium Wheat

My Opinion: - The one loose powder I had been using and became addicted to is the Lakme Rose Powder With Sunscreen. Its dirt cheap and can give any high end brand loose powders a run for their money. But mom gave this and the Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation to me last winter and I kept away my fave Lakme Rose Powder to try this one out. Since then I have been reaching out for this loose powder more often than the Lakme one. Since I have been using it for many months now, I think it’s the right time to come up with its review.

This loose powder from Avon comes in a black box, the packaging it nothing innovative with a see through plastic tub and black plastic screw-on lid. On opening the black main lid, a sifter can be seen, that’s too obvious for a loose powder packaging. It was sealed with thin cellophane and on removing it; the powder could be taken out. It’s a little difficult to dispense the powder through the sifter, very little comes out so it needs to be repeated. That’s time consuming and a little frustrating when you are in a hurry. This loose powder has no fragrance at all, unlike the Lakme one which smells of fresh roses.

I prefer using my loose powders with a kabuki/powder brush. But my mom suggested I use this powder in a ‘dab and spread’ manner. Of course this powder comes with a good quality puff/applicator which is apt for applying it evenly on the face. I use this loose powder over my foundation to give additional coverage and even out my skin. Sometimes I use it over my regular day cream to keep my skin shine free and matte. The claim of matte & shiny finish is very true, it worked on my oily t zone in the winters and now when the hot days are here, and my skin is getting oilier again, it’s working great for me.

This powder lasts upto 6-7 hours without a single touch up, so I can say the silky satiny look is on my face whole day sans the oil. It does not emphasize the pores on my skin and also it does not cakes up or oxidises on my skin. It is perfect for setting concealers and does not look unnatural and made up. It is not drying like some loose powders are. But I suggest proper blending for a naturally flawless look. It’s very light weight and blends easily on the skin, will last me for about 4-5 more months of regular use (using it since last 6 months or so).

BLENDED (NATURAL LIGHT)

Pros: -

  • Claims of matte look and shine free is very true
  • Does not look cakey, unnatural
  • Smooth satiny finish
  • Does not oxidize on my oily skin
  • Keeps skin oil-free for 5-7 hours depending on the environment you are in, in an air-conditioned environment this powder keeps me looking fresh for 6-7 hours
  • Regular use of 10/11 months will be needed to finish off this tub of 18 gms, atleast I think so
  • Gives light coverage, so can be used over day cream/lotion
BLENDED (FLASH)

Cons: -

  • Dispensing the loose powder through the sifter is a problem (most loose powder packaging has this same problem)
  • Contains Paraben & Urea

I rate this Avon Ideal Shade Loose Powder 4.5 out of 5. I recommend this to all girls who love to wear loose powder over foundation/day cream. It’s one of those great products from Avon which I shall use time and again. Simply loving it but not more than my Lakme Rose Powder :P
