Winter Woes- READER'S REQUEST

Hi Ladies, a sweet reader of my blog Priya has a couple of problems. Here is my stand on her problem.
 Priya Fashion Designer said...
HI dear.. i hv got a very severe prblm.. my face is oily.. but during winter its bcumng dry.. n skin bcumng vry uneven..n tough.. if i use a gud moisturiser thn again pimples comes out. plz suggest me some gud remedies. i also want some gud kind of home facial tips

Hi PriyaFashion from what you are saying I am assuming that the T-zone of your face remains oily while the cheeks are drying up, that's a typical combination skin type. This is common in young girls like us. If this is your problem then use products for oily skin on T-zone and dry skin products on cheeks and neck. Use a gentle face wash or cleanser as per your choice, also moisturise accordingly. You can use a toner on your T-zone only if you are into toners. Check for dandruff and clear it if you happen to have it. Dandruff if left untreated can cause acne so be carefull. For tips on a home facial click here. If you want face pack recipes click here.

A cleansing mask for you-
Yogurt and Egg Mask:- 1 Egg's white and 4-5 tbspn yogurt

Beat the egg white until stiff and add yogurt and mix very well.
Apply all over face and neck. Wipe clean using a muslin cloth dipped in hot water, followed by the muslin cloth saturated in cold water.

*For oily skin: Add a tspn of lemon juice

*For dry skin: Add a tspn of honey to the above paste

*For combination skin: Make 2 portions of the paste, 1 with lemon juice for the T-zone and the other with honey for the rest of the face and neck.
Please help Priya with more beauty recipes for the specified problems. Thanks

Skin Care- Reader's Request

Hi Ladies, Salini a reader of my blog has a couple of problems. I get a lot of private messages in facebook asking me for solutions to problems similar to that of Salini. So here is my take on her problem.
hii
i m salini
plz tell me how 2 reduce uneven skin tone??
my underarms, and the skin around my mouth are dark n this is getting worse day by day
ihave acne on my face, back n shoulders
my face is oily n sensitive but my body is dry
plzzz suggest something

Uneven skin-tone and darkness on area around mouth and underarms- This is the commonest query. As for the underarms, epilation is best for you right now. Stop waxing for sometimes and if you shave your underarms then stop using shaving creams instead use a foaming face/body wash. Avoid hair removing creams totally as of now. Also twice a week, scrub the area with a face/body scrub or prepare 1 at home. Moisturise well.
Also use a good quality scrub on your face emphasizing on the mouth area and be very gentle because of the acne.

Treat dandruff if you have any. Tie hair away from your face. Maybe its dandruff that's causing the acne on your face, shoulders and back. Use a good quality anti-dandruff shampoo. Keep your hair always clean.

For the acne start using a paste of mint/margosa leaves and apply daily on the areas affected with acne. Wash off and pat dry with a clean towel. Use a suitable sunscreen if you must go out in the sun. If you have long nails then I am sorry to say that as for now you need to chop them off. Dont prick at them or you will get ugly marks. Don't touch the affected area because it might give you an infection.

Since the rapid darkening of your skin maybe hyper pigmentation, please consult a dermatologist asap.

Please help Salini with more beauty recipes for the specified problems. Thanks

Grandma's Beauty Tip

In this post I am going to be sharing my Grandma's cheap and effective beauty recipes with you all. All ingredients used in these recipes will be readily available in your kitchen. They are harmless and have a backing of age-old experience.

For Glowing Complexion:- Grind half a cup of yellow mustard seeds adding a little water in it, also throw in a few rose petals in it. Apply on your face, neck, nape, arms and legs or your entire body as you wish. Leave it on for 20 mins and wash off.

For Dry Skin:- Massage fresh milk cream gently on the face and neck. It will nourish dry skin and will remove dead flaky skin. If done everyday, you will never grow old. It will preserve fine textured, soft skin.

Removing Wrinkles:- Apply a paste of gramflour and raw milk on your face and neck. Wash off when it dries. After a couple of weeks you will find much improvement.
Soak 10-20 gms of dried amla (Indian Gooseberry) in 1/4th cup of water.Churn the mixture after half an hour and then apply on your face and neck. Wash off after 15 mins. You will find remarkable results.

Curing Pimples:- Clean face with a cotton soaked in rosewater. Apply a mixture of turmeric and sandalwood powders on your face. This will not only remove the pimples but also brighten and soften your skin.

To Get Rid Of  Dandruff:- Take a bowl of curd and leave it open for 3 days. After 3 days apply all over scalp and leave it on for 20 mins. Repeat this treatment for 2-3 days continuously for favorable results.

For Cleaning Sparkling Teeth:- Burn rice husk on a griddle till it is reduced to ashes. Sieve it and store in a small jar and use as a dental powder.

Hope you all enjoyed reading these tips and please don't forget to leave behind your precious comments :))

Buttermilk For Beauty (Part-II)

Continuing my post on buttermilk, today am going to talk about a few more beauty recipes created with buttermilk. Sorry for being late in posting the concluding part of this post :(

To make the skin fair and soft, make a paste with 2 tbspn powdered oats and required amount of buttermilk. Apply this on your face, neck or any part of the body, leave it on for 15-20 mins and wash off with warm water. Done regularly, it will be very effective.
The way to get rid of dandruff is to massage your hair for 30 mins with buttermilk. This is a sure cure for dandruff of dryness. You can also use  curd if buttermilk is not readily available to you. But remember to keep the curd out of the fridge for 3 days before using on your hair.
From ancient times, curd has been used to condition hair. It makes the hair soft, healthy and strong. Curd should be massaged right into the roots of your hair before being washed off.
If your feel hot and your head heats up as well or if you are suffering from insomnia, put curd on your head and secure it with a cloth tied around your head. This will certainly make your head cool and induce sleep.
