My Opinion: - On any given day, I
would choose a tinted moisturiser over a foundation for day time wear but in
the evenings/nights I simply prefer a foundation. But when I received
Maybelline Dream Touch, I was amazed at how soft and light weight the Dream
Matte Mousse was and I started using it during the day. I don’t have much
imperfection when it comes to skin tone. My problems- I have a couple of spot
on my left cheeks with light under-eye circles, large pores and some redness
scattered here and there if my skin has broken out. I basically don’t need a
heavy coverage foundation for daily wear. The shade I was sent is Nude Light 4
and it suits me well.
Now coming to the packaging it’s a
cute, sturdy and heavy glass tub with a beige plastic screw on lid. Since it’s
a mousse, it’s ideal to have this kind of packaging though there may be some
hygiene issues. I use a tiny spatula to take out the product and place it on
the back of my hand. The packaging is travel friendly and can be carried with
ease in a purse. The fragrance is chemical-y but very mild and fades off almost
immediately after application. I have experimented in a number of ways and have
found out that different method of application gives different results.
The consistency is very light
weight and the texture of this foundation is buttery soft and spongy. Its
glides on my skin like a dream, spreads and blends in a jiffy. It’s not one of
those time consuming, difficult to blend foundations, therefore this is my
go-to foundation right now. This mousse foundation gives medium coverage which
is enough for me as it covers my light under-eye circles, conceals redness, evens
out my skin tone and hides minor flaws and pores. This foundation gives a matte but dewy kind
of finish/look to my skin. It stays fresh for 2-3 hours in an air-conditioned
environment and gradually makes my t-zone shiny but not greasy, nothing the Dream
Matte Powder can’t take care of. Therefore I prefer to dust my face and neck
lightly with this Dream Matte Powder after applying the mousse foundation. This
way it stays for about 4-5 hours in an air-conditioned environment after which
I need to go for touch ups.
This mousse foundation does not
oxidize on oily skin and stays color true and also does not cakes up. A big
disadvantage of this foundation is that it comes off really easily on anything
and everything that touches it, that is it gets on my cell phone, my collars,
tissues etc etc. The foundation also does not contain Sun Protection so I need
to use a Sunscreen underneath it during the day. Ok now coming to the ways of applying it- 1.
Using fingers warms up the foundation and gives medium coverage which can be
built up if required 2. Using a stippling brush gives quicker applications but
sheer coverage and 3. Using a sponge/wedge gives below medium but more than
sheer coverage. So I have stuck to the first method and always use my fingers
for that flawless blending. Now the tricky part of applying this foundation is
to moisturize the skin well or you are sure to find dry patches. I am happy to
say that this foundation behaved well with my break outs (my skin has been
behaving very badly of late) and didn’t cause further break outs as well. It is
very easy to go over-board with this foundation so initially use minimum amount
and then gradually build up.
Pros: -
* Blends like a dream
* Gives medium coverage which is
good enough for me
* Light weight and buttery soft
mousse
* Didn't irritate my break outs
* Does not cake up
* Does not oxidize on my oily skin
* Available in 5 shades, most girls
will find a match
Cons: -
* Pricey
* Does not last long enough, needs regular
touch ups
* Tub packaging is not hygienic,
needs careful handling (I use a spatula to take out the mousse)
* Contains tons and tons of Parabens
I
rate this Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse 4.25 out of 5 as it has become my go-to
foundation right now. It can be made to work for all skin types, proper moisturizing
for dry skin and using a good compact for oil skin. I don’t think I would need
to purchase another one anytime soon as very little product is required for
each application so it will take atleast 5-6 months to get used up. A good
product from Maybelline but needs experimenting and patience to get the hang of
it. Need to tell you girls one last thing, this mousse works like magic as an
eyeshadow primer :D
