VELLVETTE BOX JULY

                   Hello girls, I received my Vellvette Box this morning and that too without any damage.....big achievement...yayyyyy!!!!! So here are what all I received this month. Sadly enough I was not sent the Layla Nail Polish. You all know Nail Polish= <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Love the bright pink ribbon

The theme of July is 'Quick Fix'

Very carefully Bubble wrapped

I am using a few Sally Hansen products and loving them, have high expectations from this one. Actually I am searching for good base coats- strengthening or otherwise, so this is the best product in this box for me.

I sprayed it on and it was gone in say 2 mins...dud

Like all my blogger friends are complaining about these nail appliques, I haven't had the courage to put them on. May be someday when I am free and have a lot of time to spare, I will use these.

I haven't opened the seal as yet but I am happy to get this as I have never tried any glitter mascara.

Overall I am happy with this box, the body mist doesn't make much sense but other than that its a mediocre box. But Vellvette has not been able to keep up to their theme "Quick Fix". Thank you and have a Happy Monday :D

My Opinion: - There have been a lot of Brands launching Tinted Moisturizers and called them BB Creams. Anyways, I was a little intrigued when our very own Lakme was sitting silently. And then one fine day they jumped a step ahead and launched the so-called CC Cream. But please don't be mistaken by the term 'CC' as in case of Lakme it is "Complexion Care" instead of the original concept of "Color Correcting" or "Color Control". Now coming back to the review of Lakme CC Cream, it comes boxed in a dark metallic pink cardboard box with the word Lakme in silver fonts. Inside the box rests the golden beige tube with a silver screw-on cap which makes the product travel safe, hygienic and easy to dispense. Its nearly a month I have been using it, but not on a daily basis. Here I am reviewing the Shade "Beige" which is good for fair to medium and suits me to the T. But I can tell you here itself that I am liking the product a lot. Read on to know why.....

               Now coming to the fragrance part, which is a big deal for me, I don't seem to like it a lot. I know the fragrance is typical Lakme scent which you would get in their sunscreens, some of the foundations and specially the Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening Compact. But for some reason I am not liking the artificial kind of scent with a slight floral touch in this CC Cream. Thankfully this scent fades off upon application and totally goes off after a couple of minutes or so. The texture of this CC Cream is very creamy and thick looking but actually it is somewhere in between a cream and a lotion. The consistency is buttery, creamy and light-weight. Now blending it is very easy, apply it on dots all over face & neck and blend out with fingertips. Within seconds it is gone and my skin looks like it has nothing on it, it looks naturally even tone and beautiful.

                    I dare not apply my regular moisturizer underneath this CC Cream as it makes my skin oily in no time. I skip, though I know I should not, moisturizer and apply this cream all over my face & neck and spread with fingertips, not much blending is required, just spreading and patting with fingertips is enough to give my skin an even tone. It gives a semi-matte look at first but settles down to a more dewy kind of look. I layer this cream under my eyes, on uneven skin around my mouth and over the red pimples which are still sitting pretty on my face. Inspite of this layering it does not give that caked-up look instead gives that not-made-up look which we all want to achieve. This Cream minimizes the pores around my nose which I never expected from it. Apart from this, it hydrates well enough and since I have very oily skin I am not much liking this quality :P But dry to normal skin beauties will love this CC Cream for this very quality I suppose.

                   Coming to the staying power of this CC Cream, it stays on my skin the entire day without fading, disappearing or signs of blotchiness. But it makes my skin shiny as well greasy in about 4-5 hours when I am in Air-Conditioned environment and 2+ hours when I am in non-air condition environment. I have to use blotting sheets specially on my T-zone and dust my face with a translucent powder atleast twice a day, sometimes 3 times before I reach home from office. This CC Cream gives sheer to medium coverage and is buildable without the cakey look. It blurs out the spots and flaws and hides slight circles under my eyes but I have serious doubts that this CC Cream does not have the ability to cover up major flaws. It truly keeps the skin fresh looking through out the day but not without your dose of translucent powder. I use it on days when my skin looks good naturally and can do without a the coverage of a foundation and concealer. Also I donot need an extra layer of sunscreen on my face & neck since this cream comes with SPF 20 and mostly (90% of the time) I sit in my office. But if I had to travel or stay out in the sun for some reason and I would not skip my sunscreen.

Pros:

* Affordable & Easily Available

* Most claims are true (Protects, hydrates, brightens, freshens, even out the skin & conceals to some extent)

* Gives sheer to medium coverage

* Gives a not-made-up look, even after layer

* Does not cakes up

* Stays on my skin for the entire day, but with 2-3 times of re-touchings

* Blends like a dream

* Works so well when priced at Rs 250, that makes me happy

Cons:

* SPF is low at 20

* Makes my skin oily and I need to keep doing touch-ups

* I don't seem to like the fragrance, but that's only me

* Only 2 shades cannot do justice to all the beautiful warm Indian Skin Tones

* Comes off easily on anything it comes in contact with, say tissues, collars, cell phone screen etc

                   I rate Lakme CC (Complexion Care) Cream in Beige 4 out of 5 since the cons are not that serious. The texture of this cream will very well suit dry & normal skin but during these hot & humid summers it is not definitely for oilies like me. If like me you sit in the AC whole day, then also you would need  touch-ups if you are as conscious as me. There has been a lot of difference of opinion regarding the shades- "Beige" & "Bronze", so it is necessary to check the shades for yourself in the stores itself for a good match. Well girlies, go ahead and indulge in India's first CC Cream, at Rs 250 you have nothing much to lose.

Hope this review helped you in some way and do leave behind your sweet comments and also tell us about India's first CC Cream. Thank you and have an awesome Sunday :)

COLORBAR CHIC CHEEKS CONTOURING BRUSH- REVIEW

1 Unit for INR 475

Colorbar Says: - Calling all fashionistas to add some fun to every beauty job that needs to be done. Colorbar Accessories - on serious beauty-duty all day, so you can stay fabulous at work and play. Get, set, gorgeous!

Contouring Brush: The little pink secret behind gorgeous cheekbones! Sculpt and spellbind with this angled brush that defines your cheeks in simple sweeps. The soft slant easily hugs the contours of your face to shape, build build color and highlight effortlessly.

How To Use: Glide the brush over color and apply by holding the brush with longer fibers towards the outer edge of your face. Contour the cheeks by blending color inwards. Gently clean the brush by washing with mild shampoo and cold water, rinse and leave to air-dry.

My Opinion: - Last in the list of face brushes is the Chic Cheeks Contouring Brush. After my disappointment with the First Impressions Powder Brush and the Keep Blushing Blush Brush, I had no expectations from this contouring brush. First lets come its packaging, I love the chubby white handle, shiny black ferrule and the bright pink bristles. And this is the very reason why I bought the entire array of brushes immediately upon seeing them. Wrong decision !!!! I know I know....

                 The bristles of this brush are comparatively softer than the other two brushes- blush brush & powder brush. Here also the bristles are not soft as we would expect from a face brush but they are not scratchy and rough on the skin. Then the bristles are dense but enough fluffy to give good blending. And since the brush is on the fluffier side it picks up the right amount of product thereby reducing product wastage. The shape is perfect to fit into the hollows of the cheeks, and also fits the contours of the face. The shape of the brush is slanted but its a little big compared to the other contouring brushes I have used. I find it difficult to contour my nose, temples etc.

                      The bristles being synthetic, this brush is easy to wash and dries off fast (overnight). The bristles don't stain and has retained their shape after numerous washes unlike the blush brush. But with each wash a couple of bristles keep on shedding, nothing serious here but it does shed with every wash. Also when this brush was new, the bristles were not evenly cut, I could clearly see some long ones poking through the rest of the bristles. Same as the other 2 brushes with bright bristles, this contouring brush also bleds upon washing. These Colorbar brushes are not labelled- not named and not even numbered... why this cruelty to these pretty little things???

CAN YOU SEE THOSE LONGER BRISTLES HERE & THERE

Pros:

* Affordable & Easily Available

* Softer than the powder & blush brushes

* Slanted shape helps to fit into the hollows of the cheeks

* Attractive Packaging

* Blends the product well

* Picks up right amount of product

* Easy to wash & Dries off fast

Cons:

* Brush could have been a little smaller, for ease of contouring of smaller areas

* Sheds every time when washed

* Bleeds upon washing

* Not as soft as a face brush should be but not rough & scratchy like the powder & blush brushes

                 I rate Colorbar Chic Cheeks Contouring Brush 3.75 out of 5. This brush is an improvement over the other brushes with bright pink bristles but this one is also an average or may be below average if compared to Vega, TBS, Oriflame brushes. Colorbar, if you are reading this then please do work out on your brushes, specially the face brushes as the eye brushes much better compared to these. I feel ashamed to give such low rating to a brand I call my fave but everyone owing/using these brushes would know that I am absolutely honestly reviewing them here.

Hope this review helped you in some way and do leave behind your sweet comments and also tell us about your favorite Contouring Brush. Thank you and have an awesome night ahead :)

COLORBAR KEEP BLUSHING BLUSH BRUSH- REVIEW

1 Unit for INR 475

Colorbar Says: - Calling all fashionistas to add some fun to every beauty job that needs to be done. Colorbar Accessories - on serious beauty-duty all day, so you can stay fabulous at work and play. Get, set, gorgeous!

Blush Brush: Look no further if you've been searching for that happy blush you get when your heart's been racing! This perky pink brush applies just the right bit of color to take every skin tone from drab to fab in a flash.

How To Use: Stroke the brush over color, smile and brush across the apples of your cheeks working outwards. Lightly dust over the high points of your face for that cheeky glow! Gently clean the brush by washing with mild shampoo and cold water, rinse and leave to air-dry.

My Opinion: - Now comes the review of the Keep Blushing Blush Brush which too has the same white chubby handle, shiny black ferrule and bright pink bristles. This one is very similar to the First Impressions Powder Brush, just the bristles are shorter and rounded. The shape of the brush is curved and the bristles are a little over an inch. This brush too comes in a reusable black shiny zip-lock pack which doubles as a brush guard. And then same story continues......

Here again the pretty bright bristles are scratchy at the very beginning. But upon washing this brush again and again many many times it has soften to some extent but then not to the point of softness. Though this brush is easy to wash and dries fast, say overnight, it looks frayed after it dries. I have to use a brush guard from another brush to keep it in shape and only that can get the bristles to a manageable position. But after that it is back to normal and works well. Ohh yes the bristles as in all the other brushes is synthetic. This brush sheds a few bristles only on the first wash and after that it never shed till date. But like the powder brush it also bleeds and makes the water pink.

LOOKS SIMILAR TO POWDER BRUSH WHEN IT WAS NEW

Now coming to the functionality to this blush brush, this brush is dense as well as fluffy but to the right extent. It picks up the right amount of blush and deposits on my skin. The blending is also of average level, nothing very special but it blends the blush quite well into my skin. If you swirl this brush over a pan of blush you will see a lot of loose product thereafter in the pan as the rough bristles will dig into the soft blush. Also due to this factor you need to use this blush brush with a very light hand or you might get overdone cheeks.

SEE HOW THE BRISTLES FRAYED AFTER WASHING

The brush handle is chubby and therefore it is quite easy to handle, actually the entire make up of the brush is very attractive. It seems Colorbar has not given much thought into the making of these brushes as much as they have paid attention to their packaging. The Vega Brushes, Oriflame Brushes come with a lesser price tag and are much better than these Colorbar Brushes. And then The Body Shop Brushes are so much better but a little more pricey than these ones. These brushes are good for newbies actually, they are good to practice with and to learn techniques with. But for us, bloggers or girls who apply blusher on a daily basis and have been using  Sigma, TBS,Coastal Scents, Vega, Oriflame and now recently the Real Techniques Brushes, it is difficult to say much good things about these Colorbar Brushes.

Pros:

* Affordable & Easily Available

* Attractive Packaging

* Sturdy handle helps in good grip

* Densely packed bristles are fluffy, which helps in picking up right amount of product

* The Brush shape is curved and rounded, this makes the blending convenient

* Shedding during first wash only

Cons:

* Bristles are frayed & loose their shape after washing

* Bleeds upon washing

* Bristles are rough and in a way scratchy, can never be called soft

* Rs 475 for this quality is not pricey?

                     I rate Colorbar Keep Blushing Blush Brush 3.5 out of 5. You get better brushes in the same price range or even for less in the market which are way soft and better. I love Colorbar as a brand, I have always liked it products or had the concept that they make some of the best products at an affordable price tag but regarding these brushes I wouldn't be able to say good things. I am so disappointed :(

Hope this review helped you in some way and do leave behind your sweet comments and also tell us about your favorite Blush Brush. Thank you and have a great Thursday :)
